Disappointing, room needs attention and overall impression - other than the bar area- isn’t great especially given the price.

The room was clean and the staff were very friendly.

The room needed some attention curtain rod replaced previous holes still visable, tea/coffee area needed painting around tiles, Bathroom door didn’t shut properly, window shutters didn’t stay shut. Some areas needed a little TLC.

Pros: Friendly staff Free biscuits Reasonably clean Bottled water provided in the room Cons: The noisiest place I have ever stayed, as the hotel is located on the main road in the area and the sash windows are poorly insulated, making it impossible to sleep from about 4 a.m. onwards. All rooms face the main road. (I would suggest replacing the windows with properly sealed, soundproof glass, which is not significantly more expensive.) The room was set up for two people, but we were three. As a result: Not enough cups, spoons, or towels were provided Hand wash was not checked and had to be requested as there was very little left Insufficient body wash and shampoo Very little toilet paper remaining (see picture) Only towels for two people were supplied

Good value for money, free parking on-site. Five miles to Dorchester. Good clean pub accommodation.

Good price for time of year - £97 a room without breakfast in August. Lots of parking. 30 ish minute drive to Charmouth/Lyme Regis days out. Complimentary breakfast was really lovely and appreciated given unsatisfactory cleanliness of our rooms (see photos and more info below). Manager was brilliant, so kind, friendly and issue dealt with perfectly. Furnishings of the rooms very fancy and impressive. Bed comfortable, shower excellent. Lovely biscuits, tea, coffee and cute mugs.

Very poor cleaning of our three double and family rooms (3,4,5) prior to check in - see photos of extensive dust clumps all over floor and around furnishings. Too much to have not been cleaned once, seems like it hadn’t been cleaned properly for a prolonged period due to the amount of build up. Damage to rooms not fully rectified - filler used but not repainted type thing. Noise from main road outside rooms really intrusive all night - especially when large lorries bundling past your room, this can’t be helped though. One curtain partially off its rail in room 4, one bedside table handle broken in room 5. All of these things are such a shame as the rooms could be so fancy and much more inviting with a tiny bit more fixing up and love.
