Thompson San Antonio - Riverwalk, by Hyatt

Beautiful hotel and accommodations. My favorite part was the water and ice machine with sparkling water on tap was absolutely awesome. The staff was so nice as well in the bar, restaurant and hotel.

Beautiful hotel, great staff. NO Mexican dining or entertainment. No on call transportation.. No access to riverwalk bars and restaurants. Would not recommend for seniors, natives. I felt isolated on the south end of riverwalk!

Beautiful hotel, just off the chaos of the main part of the riverwalk. So you get the best of both worlds as the most popular San Antonio attractions are walkable along the beautiful San Antonio River. Hotel is literally next store to the Tobin Center if you are going for a concert or show there. Rooms are well appointed and the pool area and gym were top notch. The rooftop bar and restaurant offer stunning views of the riverwalk and downtown San Antonio area, especially at night.

Nice Hotel, the beds are mega comfy, went with kids, and even the rooms are quite small, went all rest a lot. The breakfast service is delicious and with a nice view, and everything was super clean. Easy access to the River walk.

Unfortunately, I feel compelled to write this unfavorable review regarding the management team at this property. I was booked for several nights and made the honest mistake of not calling to push my stay back by two days so I could attend my mother-in-law’s 87th birthday. When I phoned the hotel from the airport to explain, I was told to rebook and that the team would “take care of it” upon my arrival. As originally planned, I stayed two nights at the hotel. However, management failed to honor what they promised. They refunded one night but kept the other—despite the fact that I stayed at their property for two subsequent nights. I wasn’t asking for anything free; I simply expected to pay for the two nights I actually stayed. Instead, they chose to charge me for three nights. It’s disappointing that the management prioritized collecting an extra night’s revenue over showing consideration to a loyal guest. Short-sighted, to say the least. While Hyatt Corporate did get involved and kindly added 10,000 points to my account, they were unable to convince the franchise’s management to act reasonably. So, consider this a fair warning: beware of how this management team handles guests. If you value fairness, honesty, and customer service, you may want to think twice before staying here. I rarely write reviews, but I felt this one was necessary—on principle.

For being a 5-star luxury hotel, I am very disappointed. Upon arrival it smells like a gas leak or rotten eggs. Front desk girls were the best for checking me in and out. (The only hospitality I received all my stay) Very attentive and nice to guests. GM or salesperson (was a man) does not know how to say hi or bye or social hospitality cues. Didn't ask about my stay or any concerns. Very focused on his computer on sales or something. Too busy to focus on the real problem…the guest. The elevator buttons are loose and cannot see what you are pressing. The lighting is very dark and dim. Mirrors and doors of elevator are not shiny and clean with smudges. The hallways smell like mildew and mold. Carpet needs to be washed. (smells like dirty socks) Upon arrival into room- The bed was nice and tight. The TV was equipped with Chromecast and internet services. Bathroom door didn't close and lock correctly. You can tell where the cleaning people clean up to a certain area as there were yellow smudges on wall. Toilet seat was loose and came off mounting screws. AC is dirty for constant dripping and lack of air flow. Room was hot when entering even though the temperature was set at its lowest setting. Indicating dirty filter/ unit. Bathroom vents have mildew and mold spots. The mini fridge was hot and not very cold. Very disappointing experience for the price, even with this little stay. For the price(Moon Daughters)- quality and quantity were terrible. Pricing needs to be reclassified. The options need to be reclassified. I get it’s supposed to be eccentric and hip but I didn't feel wine and dined like I was bougee. If I am paying bougee price, the outcome should feel like I am bougee and not loan sharked.

Somewhat disappointed with this property: 1. Valet area smells awful 2. Room was upgraded for free but the main attraction, the tub with a view didn’t work because the drain stopper wasn’t working and upon letting the front desk know the response we got was “thanks for letting us know” 3. The front desk person didn’t inform us that the valet isn’t covered by the Amex FHR credits. 4. The texting service to get the car ready by the valet doesn’t work or they simply don’t care cause I had to physically present the ticket for them to go and fetch my car 5. The room service was very slow, took an hour for them to bring breakfast We expected a little better from an Amex FHR. But kudos to Kevin who was probably the most professional and helpful to us at this stay.

I think the Hyatt Thompson is probably the best Hyatt to stay at for the Riverwalk, and one of the best hotels in San Antonio. The staff is excellent and the hotel really exudes quality, especially in the suites. I really like staying at this hotel, and highly recommend it as a Hyatt Globalist who travels quite a bit. Shout out to Carolina at the front desk for getting me a great room and to the bellman who I think was named Armand for making sure I didn't forget some essential items when I checked out. I probably have stayed here 50+ nights since the hotel opened right after the great freeze and usually get two rooms, one for myself, and one for my brother when we come for work, and have never had a major complaint. I will be back.
