Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas, a Hyatt Resort

Spent about 45 minutes on the phone working details of a reservation for a special getaway with my wife to relax after the holiday madness, and the agent, Alex, apparently never hit “save”. Shame on me for writing down all details except for the one time I didn’t check email for the confirmation number, but Hyatt/Alila omission messing up my reservation and holiday just lost my trust in that place. Going elsewhere from now on and will reverse my recommendations for Alila.

My husband and I recently enjoyed a staycation here with our pooch, and it was truly a wonderful experience from start to finish. The exceptional service and friendly conversations with Gus from valet made us feel instantly welcome, and Cori at the front desk delivered one of the best check-in experiences we’ve had. Dennis from Guest Services truly put the cherry on top by surprising our pup with a birthday beef patty cake for her 5th birthday — such a thoughtful and memorable touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Alila Marea and would absolutely recommend this resort to anyone looking to stay in the Encinitas/Carlsbad area.

I was on a quick business trip and liked the minimalist elegance of the property. With only a few staff that I interacted with, Ricky in valet stood out. He asked about my stay when I checked out and brought me water upon my departure. That was the most personalized service I received during my stay.

We have an amazing stay at this hotel. The rooms are super spacious and hotel overs some great amenities: free electric bikes, surf boards and well equipped gym. Chad was super helpful at the Valet and coffee shop is a must try with homemade syrups!

We had an amazing experience at Alila Marea. The resort is gorgeous, perfect location on the beach. We had an ocean view king suite above the pool & the fire pit. I was happy that we were in the 3rd floor. Amazing sunset views. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially Chad at valet. We had the complimentary AmEx breakfast at Vaga every morning, and they had so many good options. I’d say the resort is a very tranquil luxury experience. We’ll definitely be back.

The Alila was an incredible experience. The rooms were beautiful, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was perfect. Every staff member made you feel very welcome. The location was great. Beach is right at your footsteps. The amenities were fantastic. The dining is superb. Its an incredible oasis away from home.

Comfortable, clean, scenic, welcoming, and accommodating hotel. We loved our stay here. We are definitely Recommending this place to friends and family.

Beautiful spacious room facing the ocean. Beware valet parking only but they were well staffed. Efficient check in. We wandered down to the pool for a cocktail and lounged on comfy sofas. Nobody was in the pool but the Jacuzzi was popular. There is also a barrel sauna and cold plunge. In the evening fire pits are lit and it's quite beautiful. The resort offers morning yoga classes. We were able to take a nice walk on the beach. We ate at the Vaga restaurant for dinner. The Caesar salad was bland and dry. I asked for extra dressing and that helped. Halibut was also dry and the same with the carrot cake dessert. Parker House rolls were excellent! The next morning we went to the coffee shop for pastries and after waiting at the front of the line for over 10 minutes just to place an order we gave up and left. Vaga was our only other choice at the resort for breakfast so we gave it another try. Fortunately breakfast was better. Companion enjoyed his yogurt bowl and my eggs Bennie was delicious.

Upon arrival, the valet Milad immediately helped set the tone for an inviting and enjoyable holiday. He makes sure to remember the guest names, making us feel not only welcomed but also safe. Every time we asked for our car, he would inquire about our day and give us recommendations. The property was beautifully situated. Check-in and check-out was very smooth, and Christopher was very accommodating in helping us change rooms after check-in. I recommend understanding the layout of the property while choosing the room type (ie. an ocean-view room will be facing the pool, so you will hear the people there). The entire property was clean and nicely decorated for the holidays. The Vaga restaurant was actually my favorite part of the experience. I could eat brunch and dinner there everyday.

All style no substance. Incredibly dissatisfied and disappointed with the choice to stay here. Got into hotel incredibly late, airlines fault. No one around. Valet and front desk finally shows up. No offer to assist with bags. No directions on where to go or what to do. 9am knock on door for services after advising in app check in that we did not want services. Car missing and cannot be called up to valet making this service essentially useless. Really worn room. Parts of shower don't work. Towel holder coming off the wall. Peeling paint. Barely any exhaust for bathroom. For the price you can get so much more and be closer to the beach. Save your time and money and search elsewhere.
