Moxy Oakland Uptown

Went to the bar twice for a drink. Never did get one. The first time, we were told the bartender was on a break. The second time the bartender did not acknowledge us. I would say we waited for five to 10 minutes. We would of understood if the bar was really busy.

Nice hotel in a somewhat rundown neighborhood. Staff work front desk and tend bar, which is odd. Check in lags or bar patrons wait dor drinks. It's too muc

I like the design of the place. How they make a small space very accommodating is very nice.

I don’t like that the deposit takes so long to get back. There has got to be a better way. And I also don’t think older/more responsible people should even have to leave a deposit. I’m 62 years old. Not in my twenties anymore. I treat everything as if it were my own! Hotels need to see this. If they did, I guarantee they would get a lot more business.

I prepaid for the nights but when I checked in they charged me several hundred additional dollars for "incidentals". !? I guess this is the Intercontinental? Nowhere during my booking, on their website, or on any sign at the check in did it mention this large additional charge that won't be refunded until 7-10 days?!

The area is very sketchy, dirty, homeless, did not feel safe, parking garage across street.

Moxy is a mindset. It belongs to Marriot but it has lots of character. It doesn’t feel sterile, and it offers a variety of activities like trivia night or DJ knights, and games during the week. Their bar is cool and open until 2pm on Thursday. Leilani, David and Thor other front desk coworkers are super nice and took care of my needs. My only complain was the non-working phone (they have bedside stories on it) and and broken AC. They are walking distance from great restaurants and short Ubers from other attractions. I’ll make sure to go back when we are in the area
