Good clean place for a short stay. Hotel is a bit unorthodox in some ways but I like it. Rooms are New York style, small but clean, comfortable and well organized. Staff is friendly. The neighborhood is what it is, but if you open your eyes and mind, downtown Oakland is just fine. There are really great restaurants close by.

The AC in the room wasn’t working and there’s no way to open the windows. It took me two calls and over thirty minutes to get someone to come try to make it work. When that failed I had to request a fan.

Friendly flexible staff, excellent bartenders, location blocks from Lake Merritt and the I 580 and easy Uber pickup area out front! Price is great for area. Free coffee! Minor complaint, first room on third floor didn’t have working air conditioning but ataff response was quick and resighted us to the 6th floor!

Fun environment

Hotel and rooms were great (actual rooms are quite small but nice), staff was professional and kind. Parking was a little annoying as you had to be let into the lot by security at the front desk (though he was prompt and friendly). Lot was across the street, having to call ahead or wait to park was inconvenient. The area felt moderately unsafe at night and was quite noisy, not the hotel's fault just a general observation.
