Moxy Oakland Uptown

Very strange place. Seemed like the staff didn’t want us there; the bartender/host wouldn’t even look in our direction for 5 minutes when we arrived to check in. Received a free drink voucher (for beer, wine, or coffee) with our room key. Went to redeem it and was told they didn’t have beer, the espresso machine was broken, and the bar “should be open, but the bartender isn’t here”. Claimed there was 24-hour security at the parking lot across the street, and, in the same breath, asked that guests provide a 10-minute warning when returning to the lot “so they could send a security guard out to open the gate”. Room was pretty nice and clean. Very few amenities. Overall, seemed like maybe they’re close to going out of business and are simply limping along to the end with minimal costs? Would not return.

Frequent guest at the Moxy. Love the rooms and the amenities they offer.

We spent three nights and felt like Moxy Oakland was overhyped. One of the two elevators was out of service, the morning coffee service was out of service, the shower was barely hot, there was a king size bed in a room that needed a queen, one chair, no side table on one side of the bed — first world problems to be sure but the website made it sound much more special than it was.

I really loved the way the hotel looks and feels.

I liked the location to the Fox theater. The vibe was unique. The rooms were clean. The room we picked was small but I actually liked that. Staff very friendly.

The lobby is such a cool vibe. I loved it! The staff was SO kind and accommodating. Loved Jocelyn in the front desk! They really looked out for me during my stay. I will come back just because of them!
