Hotel-Restaurant Kriva Ćuprija

This one was a strange stay of all our hotels on this trip over 2.5 weeks. When making the booking through Booking.com, I confirmed that I had booked 2 rooms for 4 adults...... I am a very seasoned traveler who books multiple vacations a year, and also own hotels. Also, the website said that I could pay with credit card. As few days before we were set to travel, i get an email from the hotel stating that the hotel requirement payment in cash, and that they did not accept credit cards. I found that odd, but was OK with it. We get to the hotel and am told that the reservation was for for a double room, but 1 adult per room. But no problem. They would give us the (very same) rooms for 4 adults, but there would be an extra charge. I had first cancel the earlier booking - at no charge - and then agree to the higher price - and pay in cash. And was asked not to post a review!! Every heard of a hotel ask you NOT to post a review? Being an experienced traveler, who can afford the extra charge, the last thing I wanted to do was get confrontational and then get seriously priced gouged. So, I went with the flow. I then recalled having this happen to me once before when i used Booking.com to make a reservation (I usually book through Expedia or directly at the hotel site). And then realized that at the time I got that email from Kriva Cuprija saying they would not accept credit cards that they must have changed the booking as well. Anyways, that said, the hotel was very well located to explore the town. The setting was very charming and right next to the small Crooked Bridge. Most of the staff are eager/friendly young men and boys. And extremely accommodating to help carry bags up many flights of stairs. The rooms are spacious and decently appointed. The bathroom looked great, but ours had a loose faucet, the rain shower head did not work, and there was no soap in the dispenser. But the water was hot, and the pressure excellent. The work desk did not have a handy plug point. And the 2 TVs in the room did not have live TV - turns out they are meant only for Netflix and Amazon Prime. So, I wasn't able to get the soccer match in the room. Breakfast looked lavish. But was only so-so. The coffee was not good, and almost all the cakes and breads were old/stale/extremely dry. They seem to work hard at this hotel, and seem to want to do well, but they have to stop cutting corners if they want to truly run a really good hotel. And they need to inspect the rooms a little better for maintenance and readiness. I would normally have given this a 4 star, but the whole check in experience left a poor taste in both my wifes' and my mouth.

All staff were very nice, kind and cheerful. They are all welcoming and happy to provide help. I stayed with my child and they were so friendly to her! Hotel is in the middle of old town and has easy access to every part of the town. Highly recommend!

Just one very minor thing - the bar next to the hotel was quite noisy and played loud music till mid-night. I totally understand this has nothing to do with the hotel but it made it difficult for us to sleep.
