This is an amazing place to put the finishing touch on an African vacation. The staff from Elliot who greets you on arrival to Corrine and Sandile in the front reception to Arnold, Gift. Chris, Miriam and Atheni and Rita in food Service they a so friendly and ready to serve. I should also mention the team that tales care of the rooms and maintenance team that takes care of every thing else. We also had facials and massages while at Birkenhead House. Zanelle(sp) gave me one of the best sports massages I've ever had. The food is outstanding and the rooms and overall property are stunning. The beach is immaculate and views are amazing. I can't wait to return for another visit all the way from Denver,Colorado USA

Stunning beachside location

The minute you arrive the front of the hotel looks so unassuming. However, once you enter the hotel is stunning. We had a room on the second floor (7) that had a terrace where you can see the ocean and pool area. The decor in the main dining living area is so special and beautiful. It feels like an intimate B&B. It was a little chilly so there was a fire going at night and in the early morning. The food was delicious and they were very accommodating for any special requests. We had massages two days in a row and had to be one of the best massages we have ever had. All of the food and alcohol is included. T op shelf alcohol and great wines. It was a slice of heaven. The ocean was so relaxing. A place of a lifetime.

This was the greatest hotel I have ever stayed at. From the moment we were picked up in Cape Town by our driver from the hotel - Simon, we knew we would be very well taken care of. We were picked up in a brand new BMW and quite comfortable for our 2 hour drive. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by name by all of the staff. We were greeted with their specialty watermelon gin drink (so delicious!) and rose. Rita gave us a tour of the property and made sure we had everything we needed. Upon settling in, we sent laundry out - it was returned beautifully within 24 hours - tied with ribbon. Our room was very large - with a beautiful wrap around terrace that viewed the mountains, the inner courtyard and pool #1, and the ocean. The food at Birkenhead House is incredible - they will acomodate everything you wish for. The meals were started by incredible warm freshly made bread, butter, olive oil, etc. The lunch menu remains constant with daily specials, and dinner each night is presented on personalized menus. It was such an added touch that by our second meal they knew our water preferences. I loved coming back to the room each night to a little note card about what to expect in the coming day. We took daily cliff path walks into the town - and would send a quick text if we wished to be picked up. Nothing was too much of an ask, and everything was done with a smile and with pleasure. This was our second stop on our honeymoon and I truly wish we could have stayed longer. I can't wait for the day we return to this little slice of heaven on earth - I truly cannot say enough good things.

One of the most fantastic boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I felt taken care of in any way as soon as I entered the Inn. The food was outstanding. The staff was flawless. Shane the manager was friendly and clearly has this place running at the highest level. The beach in front of the hotel was filled with locals on nice days. And the path into town and into other beaches was fantastic. I can’t say enough good things.

This might literally be the best hotel I have ever stayed in - hospitality has blown my mind - EVERYTHING is included from the moment you walk in through the door, the team couldn't be more generous with their attention. The cocktails were amazing, and abundant - the staff were so attentive that I simply had to put down an empty glass for someone to appear as if by magic and offer another, The food is divine - better than most fancy restaurants I have eaten it. The atmosphere is a cross between a cosy home and an elegant hotel with the team paying attention to your every need. Anything we asked for was met with a resounding yes and the staff went above and beyond to help us - including getting me sea-sickness tablets before my whale-watching boat trip, which they helped organise. They even valeted my car while it was in their care! Craig, Chris, Corrine and the whole team were fabulous. Also the location is stunning set upon a cliff top offering an uninterrupted view across the ocean, perfect for whale watching - of which we saw many. There is a wonderful cliff top walk into town - and dont-worry, you dont have to walk back if you dont want to, because they send someone to pick you up!
