"A great relaxing weekend trip with a nice viewing of animals and nature."

9.0

The meals served, breakfast, lunch and dinner were really good. The staff was friendly and always available. The gamedrives were good and the rangers were very knowable. We were lucky to see a lot of animals. The location being close to Johannesburg.

The visit to the lodge met all my expectations. Can't think of anything that requires improvement.

"Great glamping experience with great staff and lots of animals!"

9.0

Great glamping experience! Located rather close to Johannesburg or Pretoria. We flew into Johannesburg and arranged a transfer via Little Mongena/Dinokeng Events (we paid about 170 EUR for the transfer from and to the airport). Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, doing their best whether the camp is full or whether you’re almost alone. It’s a more or less open camp, which means you can encounter certain animals, and you’ll definitely hear them at night. You have to be prepared for certain insects, we had a big spider in our tent - but its part of the experience. Yes, it’s luxurious, but you’re still sleeping in a tent after all. Just something to keep in mind. The game drives were great - we were extremely lucky to see lots of animals very quickly (giraffes, lions, elefants, cheetahs, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, zebras - you name it). Our ranger was extremely competent and did her best to get the most out of our game drives. Snacks and drinks during the game drives were very good. Cars are comfy and in great condition. Not too crowded. Very respectful and ethical approach. We switched one drive to the boat cruise in advance, which we liked very much. The food during the stay was amazing! Breakfast includes cold options (yoghurt, muesli, fruit, pastries, cheese, toast, etc.) as well as hot options (omelette, avocado toast, eggs benedict, etc), which you can order. For lunch, we could choose between salads, burgers, paninis with fries or salad, etc. - all were delicious. Dinner was a three course affair with options for everyone. Drinks (except for welcome drinks and drinks during the game drives) are paid at the end, prices were really reasonable.

Nothing negative - just be aware that it’s a tent in the outdoors, which comes with certain comfort boundaries. I had a feeling that staff is checking the tents during the day and would remove any spider etc., but obviously, they can’t guarantee anything. If you‘re sensitive to certain insects, think twice. If you‘re fine with that, you‘re in it for a great experience!

"The Cheatah family at play!"

10.0

Christopher and Portia (and ALL the staff we encountered really) were VERY approachable and friendly and, as you would expect knowledgeable. The attention to detail was applaudable - Chris was particularly adept at sensing the situations that we found ourselves in on Game Drives and responded with aplomb! ALL the food was great (the portions were certainly generous!) and the selection of beverages was great too - the Old Brown Sherry on our return from Game Drives was a welcome touch!

The tents, although air-conditioned, were VERY hot and only cooled (a little!) when ALL doors/flaps were as COMPLETELY (zipped and velcroed) closed as possible (which was not achievable due to the zips being worn and in poor condition) and the aircon was on "LOW" and its fan blowing full blast!

"A wonderful escape from the busy world"

10.0

This was exactly what we were looking for, Glamping in the bush!! It is not far from Johannesburg but you feel like you have escaped the city 😊 The staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful- we felt cared for each day. The food is excellent and the little bar is a wonderful place for drinks.
