Dreams Bahia Mita Surf and Spa - All Inclusive

I rarely post reviews, but want to ensure others see this to potentially prevent disappointment when spending a lot of money for a vacation. My Wife and I have stayed at Secrets previously and were very excited based on that experience, but were quickly let down. We were very disappointed in the layout and amount of wasted space. Our "suite" was not a suite, but simply two connecting rooms. The drinks at the bar were terrible and there was a different level of alcohol served for Dreams vs Secrets, which should not be the case at an all-inclusive resort. Unfortunate, but understandable, but the the English spoken by employees wasn't the best. Water Park amenities didn't open until 1100 daily. Yes, 1100. NYE we were "forced" to pay for a table that cost between $ 400-600 because "there the resort wouldn't guarantee seating and there was only one restaurant open on NYE and was adults only".

Honestly, the pictures don't do this property justice. VERY kid friendly with lots of shallow pools to splash around in; but also plenty of regular pools as well. We were there over Christmas and the property is so well laid-out that I had no idea there were anywhere close to as many people at the property as there were until the Christmas Eve celebration in the center space. I was shocked; it did not feel like there were anywhere close to that many people on property on any of our days.

The resort itself is incredible, and the staff is so kind and helpful. I found overall the food and environment, variety of restaurants very good. The pools were amazing and the service exceptional. There were many children, almost too many, and no "quiet" areas where the adults could go without being inundated with kid behaviour and loud horseplay. Highly recommend the Secrets side if you want a quiet experience

We had a great experience overall staying at this resort. It exceeded our expectations. We arrived very late due to flight issues, and the staff were incredibly helpful in getting us checked in quickly and making sure we had everything we needed, especially while traveling with a 1-year-old. The staff throughout the resort were very friendly and had a great attitude. The service overall was top-notch. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and we loved that there was a lady outside making fresh tortillas. The food selection and quality were great. The only feedback we would share is that if you are specifically looking for a beach vacation, the beach may not meet expectations. It is quite rocky, and the family area is much smaller compared to the adults-only side. It can feel a bit tight and limited, which may affect the overall experience. The beach area does not quite match the quality of the resort’s facilities, which otherwise are excellent. The pools, food, amenities, and even the gym were all fantastic. All the restaurants were amazing, especially El Patio, where we had an excellent dining experience and outstanding food. The Italian restaurant had the longest wait and slowest service, but the food was still good overall. In terms of activities, we really enjoyed Mexican Night, which was probably our favorite. Most of the other activities were located farther away and usually scheduled quite late, which was not ideal when traveling with a 1-year-old. It would be great if the resort offered more centrally located shows or entertainment. There was also no bar with live music or salsa dancing, which would have been a nice addition. Overall, we would definitely come back and would recommend this resort to our friends and family.

Definitely bring water shoes. The layout is very confusing at first, there is a pool on the 6th floor but nobody tells you, visit this pool. Food was excellent. If you’re staying on higher floors, most elevators do not go to floors 7 and 8- ask for clear directions- we dragged our suitcases to 4 elevators that didn’t go to our floors. Staff was polite, resort was clean, food was great. Lots of walking required but a great way to get in steps to counter any drinks/desserts!

This was my second stay at this resort and we returned because our first stay, which was for a wedding, was so fun and the food is great. I would recommend paying more for the ocean view rooms thought. This time, we opted for the tropical rooms to save money. Althought the rooms were just as spacious and clean, it smelled like open sewage 3 of the 4 nights we were there. I noticed during the day that we were near a pond that was full of green algae. When my boyfreind told customer service, we recieved $200 worth of coupons, but we couldn't use them because each coupon was worth about $10-$20 off a full spa service or romantic dinner, but you can only use them one at a time rather than togther; and the services are already really pricey so they weren't worth it.

0/10 would not recommend. I am a travel advisor and booked this property for 2 nights/ 2 rooms. One for the parents and one for the kids + nanny. From not replying to my emails prior to arrival, our bags being misplaced by the front desk, trying to sell us an upgraded room while my special needs kid cried on the floor of the lobby, to the bellman trying to get me to do a timeshare presentation offering me a free massage if I did, the rooms being insanely far from pools or beach, the water in the kids pools not heated (way colder then the ocean), pools not open until 11am (clearly no one here has kids?) , all the seating around kids pools are cabanas to rent. You need to be atleast 20-30ft away or on another story above the pool for a free lounger- I guess they don't care if your kids drown while you're running to them )0- few vegetarian options (we are all vegetarian and my special needs kiddo specifically) , unhelpful staff all around. What this property does do is give you an instragamable backdrop. So if you care about your social media presence- book it. If you care about anything else- book somewhere else.
