Wilgar Hotel

The property needs fixing and carpet to be deep clean. We could find rubbish under the sofa, but the location it’s great, close to the beach and shops, the staff is lovely, very friendly and helpful.Beds were clean and we had access to the all facilities.

The property is a pet friendly which means we could find dogs hair everywhere.

The girl was really lovely that was there she helped all our needs and really made us comfortable and spoke us through about the parking ☺️ she was so kind. ☺️

Couldn't fault nothing really.

The location is excellent—just a 10-minute walk to the Tower and nearby attractions. Having free hotel parking this close to the town centre is a major bonus. The room was small but a suitable size for two adults and two small children during our three-day stay, though we spent most of our time out exploring Blackpool. The mini-fridge in the room was especially helpful for keeping drinks and snacks cool. Although there’s no on-site dining, there are several local cafés and a Tesco Express just around the corner, which made grabbing meals and essentials easy. There were at least three plug sockets available—one by the double bed, a double socket by the bunk beds, and another double socket with two USB ports near the fridge, which was very convenient for charging devices. A combined clothes rack and shelving unit was also provided and quite useful for keeping things organised. We didn’t see the owner during our stay, but they were responsive whenever we called the number on the door. The late check-in (11 p.m.) was no problem—we were given a code to access the building, which worked smoothly.

Now for the downsides. I understand this is a budget room with a great location, so we came prepared based on previous reviews—bringing extra towels, pillows, and a kettle, as the availability of some amenities can be inconsistent. The mattress was quite old and uncomfortable, and the TV remote was missing. The room could get quite warm, and although the windows open, outside noise can be disruptive. These were manageable for a short stay. However, the biggest issue was the shower, which wouldn’t run hot (June 2025). This appears to be a recurring problem in the quad room, and despite contacting the owner several times, it wasn’t resolved during our stay. This made things quite uncomfortable, as no one enjoys a cold shower. There was also a lingering smell in the room, possibly cigarette smoke, which was unpleasant.

Not much the owner is trying to improve the property but I feel it is what it is and when completed I feel the price will increase so try and be open minded for the price. people are nice and will try and help you.

Staff was very helpful,let us drop our bags off early, plenty toilet roll in bathroom,tea coffee and kettle fridge,fresh milk,and clean bath towels I was happy and so was my daughter with hotel.

Only thing disappointing was the carpet few stains but are having work done.

All of it. The locks on the doors were broken. The bedroom door was not safe. The bathroom door didn't lock. Walking through the place stunk of dog even tho there was no dogs. Was told we could watch the TV. But there was only 1 channel. But that didn't even work. Was just a not nice place to stay

Disgusting behaviour from management

I came to stay at the hotel and upon arrival was told by the manager he would have to cancel my booking, He was very rude about the situation and not helpful at all. I never got an apology and he just ignored all messages and phone calls asking for my refund, I was unable to get a refund through the site i booked on because it was non refundable. I arrived at 9pm so I was then stuck with no where to stay, even though he was still advertising rooms available. Very appalling customer service and very unprofessional.
