The Americus Hotel, Unscripted by Hyatt

It’s a grand old hotel downtown in a small city. The room was pristine and a very comfortable bed. The staff both on reception and in the bar (Joel) were very attentive. Joel was the consummate barman who listened patiently and truly engaged with his patrons. He also made great drinks!! The property was easily found and well situated for the centre of the business district.

The city has seen better days probably the hotel has as well. The noise from the street was pretty awful. I was on the second floor needs sound proofing somehow. The receptionists are forced into a process that should’ve been pretty much completed by the info provided by Booking.com. I object to spending time writing stuff out that is freely available from them. Sadly the Resturant was closed I understand when your quiet you have to cut your cloth but I was less than comfortable going out on the street in this town at night.

So the hotel is pretty nice. However, I booked through a third party and prepaid. Stayed at the Americus and they charged me directly. So I paid twice for my room. They say I need to prove to them that Ticketmaster hotels paid them. How am I supposed to do that. The reception acknowledged I was booked through TM upon arrival. They basically are stealing 180 bucks from me. Hard to deal with. Don’t book through a third party reservation. Room was nice though,

Great four-star stay. Would be a five star review but for the motorcycles and cars going back and forth on the main drag on weekends. Service, room and amenities were great though.

I originally booked a room at the Moxy. When arrived there, they never heard of me nor my reservation. The front desk person was clueless. I was pissed, but needed to get to bed. Fortunately, I found The Americus (for less money than Moxy). Booked it right away. Called and they got my reservation. Praise the lord! The staff was lovely and accommodating. It was after midnight at this point. We went to our room. Had a glorious nights sleep and checked out

Nothing. It was charming, clean, and cozy. What more could you ask for

The room we stayed in had drop ceilings with the brightest, most uncomfortable bright white fluorescent lighting that not even the worst office building would tolerate. We tried to make do with the two lamps on the nightstands and the microwave range light for the duration of our stay because these lights were so aggressive. The “queen” bed was actually a double. I’m 5’8” and my feet hung over the edge. The overly-soft mattress rested on what I assume was a broken or worn out base, which led to me and my husband rolling into the center of the small bed each night. The walls are paper thin, our door wouldn’t shut without slamming it, and the floors are cheap and poorly installed. Even on the 10th floor, we could hear the traffic and street noises like we were outside at ground level. The water pressure is abyssal and I am so glad I washed my hair right before we travelled so I didn’t have to try to do it here. Just washing my body and getting all the soap off was a challenge. The rooms are spacious in terms of square footage, though the layout is very weird. It was nice having a mini fridge and microwave, and the A/C unit was loud enough to drown out some of the noise. That’s probably the nicest thing I can say about this place.

The building and lobby were lovely. Room was spacious, clean and mostly quiet. Breakfast at hotel restaurant was convenient and good value.

Valet parking service was little slow….esp if there was event at facility. Didn’t ruin stay but just had to be mindful when making daily plans about extra time it would take to leave property or car. Also never found remote in room for tv.

The hotel was beautiful BUT GROSSLY UNDER STAFFED and extremly LOUD. We had to move our room at 2am the first night because of the noise level inside the hotel and the second night was even worse with all the street racing, motor cycles and police sirens. We would have left in the middle of the night if we could have but the valet service was closed and we couldn't access our vehicle. After two nights of NO sleep we were happy to check out early only to find out they charged the wrong credit card after we gave them explicit instructions three times prior to check out. Such a complete disappointment for our Anniversary and my Bday weekend.

I really enjoyed there breakfast Next time I will get to enjoy that bar!!

Beautiful and very nice staff

I was suppose to get two queen bed and we got a room that only had one even though i had booked the room 3 months in advance. My son had to sleep on a cot. I thought I would have been offered some money back or something. It was a nice hotel just mad that I didn’t get the room I booked.
