Candeo Hotels Kyoto Karasuma Rokkaku

This hotel was a great mix of a traditional riyokan/onsen but with modern bedrooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we appreciated the strong coffee available 24/7. The location is very convenient to the subway and local train (and a grocery story), yet far enough from the busy sections of the city (a nice place to retreat to at the end of the day).

Great hotel: beautiful Japanese lounge area, big lovely rooms, great spa. Good place to try Japanese breakfast. Convenient location. Very friendly staff.

This place was perfectly situated. The staff was super kind. My one comment is there are no plugs! We would have to rotate all of our devices in the bathroom where there was only one outlet. I read other comments and other people had the same feedback.

Beautiful Japanese architecture in the main building that had been restored. The rooms were a bit kitsch with the rose gold trim, but nice. Terrible view of electrical equipment from our particular room. Staff was fine, but nothing outstanding or overly friendly. Overall, a great place to stay, but I’m sure there’s other places in town that are as good at this price range that perhaps are located in an even more central location. The Starbucks a block or two away from this place has an incredible view of the temple through the all glass windows. That was awesome.

Really an amazing property, loved this place, the spa and old world feel

I LOVED this place sooooo much!!! My only issue was the breakfast (which they quickly fixed) but other than that it was amazing!! My best stay in Japan for my first time and I visited three cities. Kyoto is a cute city and I'll come again with friends and I'll stay longer!! ☺️

This hotel was amazing. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were so beautiful. We stayed in 3 different rooms and all 3 were up to par.

I enjoyed my stay. The only (small) issue I had was with the breakfast. Luckily, that issue was fixed. Overall, I loved my stay and would love to come back again and bring friends & family one day!

The public areas are nice traditional Kyoto machiya style rooms. The only problem is that because one has to take off shoes to go into that area, it was too inconvenient to use. The coffee/tea machines should be positioned in a much more accessible area and not in the corner of the second floor of the tatami areas. This was too far and inconvenient for using. As a result I did not once use the facilities over a three night stay. There is only one teabag provided in the room per day which is too little. Also amenities were not well stocked in the room or in the spa/bath area. More thoughtful provision of service mentioned above would make this place a better place to stay.
