The Leeming at Claremont Apartments

The good points about this property: - Walking distance to town - Allocated parking space - Lovely converted old building - Comfortable bed - Spacious rooms - Towels and toiletries

On the surface, this property looks fantastic, with pictures that could be straight out of a decoration magazine. However, staying there did not live up to our expectations. Living room / kitchen: - I appreciate the apartment if for 2 people but providing only one small sofa for relaxing in the living room is not comfortable. - The high stools at the kitchen island do not leave enough room between the seat and the underside of the worktop to sit comfortably. - The lighting in the living room looks pretty and trendy but the switch controls mean that it is either all on or off. Some more switching controls would have made for a nicer ambience. - The many items on the kitchen worktop (kettle, microwave, toaster, tea caddy) restrict the available preparation space. - The place provided 2 wine glasses (of different sizes), 2 flutes and the most minute tumblers. - The cutlery provided was from at least 3 different styles and rattled in the drawer (I could have been in a student flat). - The TV was basic, with very poor sound. Bedroom: The bed was lovely and comfortable and the carpet deep and soft but the wardrobe and chest of drawers were of poor quality, with the drawers difficult to pull out. Bathroom: - The level of lighting is very low. - The large mirrored wall is too far to see yourself to shave, apply make-up etc. At the time of our stay, house keeping items were stored in the corridors, making the place look cluttered and untidy. The house keeping vacum cleaner was stored in front of the fire exit door. All this was reported separately to the management and hopefully the issue will be addressed as this lets the place down, which has the potential of being stunning but in my opinion falls short of it. I also reported various items for maintenance to the management.

The space is huge!! The living area well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely with lots of hot water available.

The kitchen was a little dirty with crumbs on the worktop. The fridge had been switched off and an awful smell was coming from it. We felt we could’ve been given more than 2 towels per person. There was no hand towel in the bathrooms and the towels were old and thin - they were also tiny! The apartment could do with some love and attention (especially at the price we paid). It is a very old building so it is rather damp in feel and smell. The heated towel rails were on in the bathrooms (maybe to keep damp out) but it was an unusually hot September week and it was uncomfortably hot!

I think the pictures on booking must be from a long time ago as it looks very run down now. A dark and dindgy place, smells of damp as soon as you open the door, Bedding was shocking bedspread was heavily stained, pillows damp didnt use quilt as cover was grey and stained and quilt inside well im sorry i looked. Towels & bedding were fit only for the bin. cooking area shabby. we booked a 4 night stay whilst working in leeds but only stayed the one night and moved into a hotel.

Location was convenient, 20 minute walk from the office.

This accommodation have not issued an invoice. They have ignored repeated requests for one too. Do not use this accommodation if an invoice is required for your stay.

Good location, nice apartment in terms of layout and space. It was a very nice touch to spread rose petals around when they heard we had just got married and were spending our first night as a married couple there.

There was a cracked window. There was a leak that came in and ran down a lightbulb onto the floor. There was significant damp on the bathroom ceiling possibly connected to the aforementioned leak in the hallway. Kitchen tap was very loose. There was an odd whirring noise every 20-30 seconds on the final night of our stay that lasted into the early hours.

The apartment is stunning, lots of space and equipment. If you are staying in Leeds, you must give it a try. The location is great (10 min to the town hall) in a quiet area.
