Azure Palm Hot Springs

We came to unwind and soak up the warmth before heading back to East Coast winter. So glad we weren't deterred by reviews of the location. Didn't mind it was in a residential area. If you want real mineral hot springs, you have to go where the water is. Never once did we feel "unsafe". The Azure has done an excellent job of making you feel like you're in a desert oasis. Absolutely loved soaking in the small mineral springs pools, gazing out at the desert mountains or the stars. My favorite places were the fire pit courtyard and the Himalayan salt room. The Spa services were excellent and well priced. Milah's skin treatments made me glow and Paul's massage was one of the best I've had. The cafe was good and the boutique was nicely curated. The room was clean, the HVAC was fine. No noise issues but disclaimer, I sleep with noise cancelling earbuds because my friend snores... The staff were always helpful and friendly. Tips: if you want a private experience, come during the week. The spa is good, there will be a lot of day pass people on the weekends. The outdoor mineral pools are shared so choose your time accordingly. Make a reservation for the shared Himalayan salt room. Hopefully, everyone will be respectful entering and leaving on time. If you have time to explore the area - skip Palm Springs and check out some local hikes. Sadly, there were many reports on understaffing and overcrowding at Joshua Tree National Park.

This would have been a 5 star review except for the fact that the AC does not work in these rooms. The lowest temperature is pre-set at 72 degrees. I begged to be able to over-ride this rule, and an engineer accommodated my request, but the AC turned it self off in the early morning hours. I woke up at 3am in a puddle of sweat. I also tried leaving the sliding glass door open, since this is winter, and the outside air is pleasantly cool, but the traffic noise kept me awake. There is an overhead fan, which is quite beautiful, but VERY NOISY. This is a shame because I love the Azure Palm. This was our 3rd stay at this hotel, and I do not remember having this problem with the cooling system before. I love everything else about this place, especially the oasis, the concrete tubs, the salt room, and the cafe. The staff members are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless. But, please, FIX THE AC

The Azure is located in Desert Hot Springs in a residential area which was fine because we came for the spa and to relax on premise. If you want to walk out the door to nightlife or nature hiking, it may not be for you. If you want a serene and casually beautiful environment with excellent services, then I highly recommend it. I wasn't bothered by the location because I went for the mineral hot springs and the water is where it is.

The overnight guests could benefit from a little more education on how to use the Himalayan Salt room so they don't interrupt the mediative experience for other guests.

The employee monitoring the pool was shhing every couple at the pool even though they were talking in normal/not loud voices. Made it harder to enjoy yourself when you felt you couldn’t talk at the pool

The massage and the massage

We had a terrible experience at this spa. I came here for my birthday, hoping for a relaxing and rejuvenating way to kick off both my new year and my celebration, but unfortunately the experience fell short. The main pool and the mineral tubs were underwhelming. We were unable to truly enjoy the hot springs oasis, as several groups occupied them for hours at a time, leaving little opportunity for others to use them. We initially enjoyed the Himalayan salt room, but that quickly changed due to an unpleasant interaction. We had reserved the salt room for four people the night before for a 10:30pm. session. When we arrived, two individuals were inside, kissing, talking, and being loud enough that we could hear them from outside the room. Although our reservation began at 10:30pm, we waited until 10:35pm before entering to allow them additional time to finish. Even then, they remained inside for another 10 minutes, whispering and giggling. When they finally left, they made comments calling us rude and disrespectful and continued making faces at us through the window. Shortly after, a front desk staff member entered the room aggressively and asked to speak with one of us outside. I stepped out, where he approached the situation in an accusatory manner rather than with curiosity or professionalism. He stated that this was a place of serenity and quiet and that if we could not follow the rules, action would be taken. Each time I attempted to explain our experience, he interrupted me and insisted that we were laughing and using our phones while the other couple was meditating. In reality, three out of four of us did not have our phones at all. The one phone present was only used to track time to ensure we did not exceed our reserved session. It was not until the end of the conversation that he finally listened, understood the situation, and calmed down. By that point, I was already upset and appalled by the lack of professionalism and customer service.

Breakfast was a little disappointing. The avocado toast was not seasoned.
