Cwtsh Hostel Central Swansea, Social & Modern, Near Train Station

Location. Comfort. Quiet. Bathrooms in the dorm rooms. Nice check in.

People were a little lax in cleaning up after themselves in the kitchen.

After travelling for 2 hours by train, I went for food and a couple of pints with a friend before checking in. On arrival, I was told I was not allowed to stay because I had been drinking alcohol. This was both surprising and disappointing. The information online states that alcohol is allowed on the premises, with staff reserving the right to act if there are concerns about safety or behaviour. At no point does it state that guests can be refused entry simply for having consumed alcohol elsewhere. I was calm, respectful, and caused no issues, yet was still refused my pre-booked room. I also had a second night booked and was told the same would apply. This feels like a lack of transparency in their terms and conditions. If a policy could result in guests being refused entry, it should be clearly stated in advance so people can make an informed decision before booking. I have stayed in many hotels and hostels across the UK and abroad and have never experienced anything like this. To be refused a pre-booked room after travelling, based on an unclear policy, is unreasonable. Very disappointed and would not recommend.

Lots of sockets in the room that happened to be very helpful. Location is awesome and staff are super helpful and friendly. Checking in Billy was waiting for me after the opening times, showed me the facilities, sorted out a problem I raised and provided me the equipment I requested last minute. Checking out Adrian kept my luggage so I could collect it after exploring the city and helped me with train departures information. Both went above and beyond! Thank you so much!

One of the pillows didn’t have the pillow case and the litter bin wasn’t completely empty.

Absolutely nothing, it was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. How it got five stars, begs to question.
