Suigetsu Machiya House

Looks amazing, wonderful location, lovely garden outlook

In early February it can be a little cold. Air conditioners meant sleeping was warm but can be a little cool downstairs. No issue for us but stairs up to bedrooms were quite steep

Manager great, very helpful and responsive. Unfortunately the hot water went out (frozen pipes) twice during our 3 days. Nice modern bathroom in quaint home. Stairs to upper level are steep and narrow.

House was very nice and very traditional. The only down side would be for tall ppl like myself i struggled with the stairs and ceiling as they were too low, but that is expected in Japan. Overall it was very well maintained and a great experience

authentic japanese wooden house in the heart of kyoto- stunning interior, great location, very japanese- perfect for what we had in mind to enjoy kyoto and its sourroundings.

We enjoy our stay in the property. Check in is smooth without hassle, staff provides informative necessities during stay. The rest of the property runs in self-served style. The room is spacious enough but all is located in level 2. Since it is a machiya style, staircase may not be suitable to everybody. On first floor we gave living, dining, fully equiped kicthen, washer dryer and bathroom. House is super clean and the backyard Japanese garden is a beauty point of view. Location is superb. Walking distance to Kiyozima area. Little bit more to Higashiyama but still very doable. Like most in Kyoto, the neighborhood is quiet and perfect place to relax

Excellent location, really fun to stay in a traditional house. Tie up with the hotel made it easy to leave luggage before check in time, so giving confidence we had someone to contact if we needed to.

Traditional house means it is small and not so comfy for lounging around for people who aren’t used to it. But the location and the quality of the house makes up for it. Thin windows meant it was very loud when it rained.
