Bodmin Jail Hotel

From the moment of arrival to when we left we were extremely impressed with the staff, facilities and food. 10/10

No issues for us.

Bodmin Hotel is amazing itself although a lot of things had gone downhill compared to previous stays. The room was lovely and very clean and the cleaners were lovely. The staff in the dining hall were amazing and friendly and nothing was too much trouble even when they were very busy. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choices. I cannot fault the cleaning staff or dining staff at all.

Reception staff apart from two were awful. Avoided eye contact , miserable, some were rude, very unhelpful, didn’t care at all about customer satisfaction. They had participants in a game show staying there. The filming was off site but the people making the props were on site and set up a gazebo in the side carpark right under our window and were drilling, banging and using electric tools every day from eight in the morning until eight at night. After complaining we were told we were being moved the next morning but then told after asking the next day that we weren’t being moved. We were told the workmen were being moved but that didn’t happen either. Then we were told the noise would be from 10am-5pm but nothing changed. We went there to relax but this went on every day for a week and was still going on on the day we left. Reception management treated us like we were the problem so we had to just put up with it. We felt our needs were not dealt with and they cared more about not upsetting the workmen. On top of the power tools noise we were subjected to them shouting and using foul language when speaking to each other. We saved for two years to stay there costing us £2800 and might as well have pitched a tent in the middle of a building site. Had it of been work on the building we would have understood but these were behind the scene prop workmen for the show.

The rooms were beautiful - especially the bathroom. Loved the history of the hotel and how it’s been restored to an excellent standard while still feeling very much like a jail. The cocktails were amazing and breakfast was fantastic The rooms felt very light and airy even though you’re in old cells with the original windows! Loved it!

Our robes had makeup stains on them and our bed sheet had makeup marks on. Housekeeping were quite rude and one member of housekeeping huffed at me for asking to go past (the trolley completely blocks the landing)

Very well done. Keeping as much of the original building but adding in every luxury you could want. Parking available for the guests and discount on the entry to the attraction too. I would absolutely recommend this hotel!

The staff was ignorant ..worst hotel customer service iv ever experienced..we had one night stay worst hotel ever we are now in Fistral beach hotel and what a difference the staff here are how it should be in a hotel not over the top just helpful an pleasant

Super rénovation and great rooms.

Bedroom needs a deep clean dusty and no attention to detail.
