Gen Hakone Gora

Very large and modern room with a large living area and a gorgeous balcony and our own onsen. Lovely views too and so relaxing especially after being in Tokyo for a few days. The food was delicious.

I would have preferred a later breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was either 8am or 8.30 and dinner 6pm or 6.30pm.

Privater Onsen, extrem liebenswürdiges Personal, Wünsche werden erkannt und erfüllt. Unglaubliche Speisen. Gute Sakeauswahl. Schöne Lage, zwar am Hang, aber man wird mit dem Hotelwagen chauffiert oder kann die Standseilbahn nehmen. Tolle Aussicht.

Give this property a very wide berth! We have just stayed at Gen Hakone Gora for 3 nights and it was one of the most disappointing experiences a I have had. We had two rooms because I am travelling with my three adult children for my 50th Birthday. The price included half board (breakfast and dinner) so I was proactive and contacted the property 2 weeks before we were due to arrive to provide our dietary requirements. Two of my children are very adventurous eaters however my daughter and I are not. I sent them a list of items we did not eat and they came back to me asking if we ate eel, squid, octopus, crab and sea urchins, I said we did not. The first night’s dinner included all of the above items that we had confirmed that we did not eat. My daughter and I ended up walking to the local store for some dinner. That night I wrote another email confirming the foods we did eat. The second night we were also served food on our do not eat list! Given that we paid $10,000 AUD for three nights accomodation I would when expected them to accommodate our dietary requirements. The menu was very very exotic and not suitable to most palates. The Western breakfast consisted of cold toast, soggy croissants, and cold eggs and salad. The rooms were very bright and made it difficult to sleep at night as the sun rose very early and the air conditioning was insufficient due to the hotel building being so old. The two single beds were uncomfortable and the pillows were hard and now a have a sore neck. This property is also far away from any shops or amenities which meant catching many Ubers. The worse part of this experience was on departure when paying the account. I had a shiatsu massage one afternoon and my son had an oil massage. We were quotes 9000 YEN each and upon checkout they charged us 9000 YEN for the shiatsu and 18,700 YEN for the oil massage. I was quoted 9000 YEN for each massage and even signed paperwork to that effect.

The beds were uncomfortable, the manager was the rudest most unprofessional person in hospitality I have ever encountered.

We've traveled the world, and this is the best hotel I've ever stayed at. Truly a wonderful location and delightful staff.

Great private onsen and very friendly and helpful staff

We loved the public and private onsen and had a relaxing stay. They provided all toiletries including quality face cleanser, shampoo/conditioner, even pyjamas. We enjoyed the complimentary bar with beer/wine and hand drip coffee. The Kaiseki dinner was a great experience and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The kaiseki dinner was almost entirely seafood.

Beautiful Mountain View, friendly staff that caters every detail of your stay. Nice rooms, comfortable beds and the porch onsen is amazing.
