Very well located, spacious, clean, lots of natural light.

Accessing was quite easy, It was in a good central location, the basic facilities in the room were great and the beach gear was a nice touch!

So i did not enjoy the surprise cost of parking when i arrived there. For a couple who had booked a car and a room to then be charged an additional $40/night for parking in the hotel parking was a rude surprise. In Sydney hotels everything is declared online when booking a hotel normally that includes if parking is extra. This is seen as price gouging to an Australian. The only other thing we could of been warned of is how noisy the traffic was here, i needed to get a set of ear plugs to sleep at night.

It had a swimming pool and gym.

No breakfast included in the booking. Go to the front desk and they tell you, that it's an Airbnb not a Hotel booking.

To describe better, a Motel 6 might have been more appealing. No offense, but for the price. Atmosphere felt unsafe, the room lacked effort to offer comfort to the sight, the furnishing inspired on a yard sale, the window was missing many blind blades, so no way to close them, and the tv remotes were not working peopey. I felt as if I was staying in an alley hotel and decided to find another place after 15 min. of arrival.

I have stayed at the Monarch many times since 1981 and have become accustmoed to the location, equidistance to beach, Ala Moana Mall and Waikiki shopping precinct. The food trucks over the road

UGRADED !!!!!- WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH, WHICH I PAID EXTRA FOR. DO NOT RENT THIS UNIT - 812. The Monarch is tired, the "UPGRADED ROOM" was pitiful, damaged floors falling apart, dirty bathroom, 1 towel for 2 people, waterstained lamps that you had to move the bed to plug in, one had no bulb. Not a sachet of coffee, sugar, nothing, not even filters for the coffee pot (why would a tourist want to go out and buy all this stuff at great expense), not even a welcome bottle of drinkable water. I was disgusted at the state of the place DON'T RENT ROOM 812. My daughter had flown all night and couldn't get into the room so fell asleep in the foyer. She was shushed awake and away. Terrible. THEN there's the USD$125 for cleaning. What a rip off.
