Hygie Boutique Hotel

Good location ! Good bed if you have a room with a king bed. I also appreciated that the bathroom and shower soap/gel/shampoo etc. were made in Canada. They upgraded us because there was a plumbing issue with our toilet in the first room, also had an issue with the A/C it was really hot but after we switched room it was fine. The staff was really really nice and polite, they apologize for the issues we had with the room and upgraded us, they went out of their way to try fix the problems.

The biggest issue we had was that you can't control the A/C in your room. The whole accommodation is central air. So our room was really hot but in the hallway it was comfortable. Other rooms had no issue with the temperature and all was great, seemed to be just us. Getting inside the place was a little bit tricky at first, if you traveled a long way and you're tired read the instructions for check in carefully. The first room we had, had a bathroom with a clear wall so not suitable if you're not a couple traveling.

No parking on site. Had to park at the public parking which cost another $25 additional to hotel costs. Very dusty. Basement rooms which was not disclosed.

Check in was easy, the location is great, the room was very nice but the bathroom in sight disrepair. Just be warned that parking in the area is difficult so it would be a good idea to plan ahead. There is a pay garage a block or two away though.

The adversing did not match the condition of the property.and basic services such as reasonable quality toweels were not provided. Will not be stoppoing here again

It was conveniently located next to the champ de mars station and the notre dame basilica. However, the hotel service was a little weird. Got the private room and the first thing i noticed there were no washcloths. I had asked for one and was told they no longer distribute them because families do weird things with washcloths and they’d rather not give me one. I had to run down to the mall to buy a washcloth to shower. The rooms weren’t cleaned during my whole stay even though i placed the sign requesting cleaning. When i asked about it, the front desk stated that the cleaning crew thought i was in my room the entire time (even though i made sure to remove the sign when i was in the room). When I asked for extra coffee stirrers I was told they never had them even though they were initially in the room. What really annoyed me was when i asked about laundry service on the last night of my stay and was told the washer for residents wasn’t working only to have a resident use it. It seemed like any time you approached the front desk to ask a question, they seemed really annoyed with the guests — not sure if the staff had a bad day or were overworked. The attitude didn’t bother me as much as the weird answers or hotel rules. I also didn’t like the rooms were in the basement and the windows were on the street. Great lighting but the public could peep in on you. I’d say pay a little extra for a decent hotel.

We spent 2 nights in a king room at this hotel. We tried to check in at 2 pm but could not. The 3 pm check in time is evidently non negotiable. We then went to park the car and erroneously parked in the resident lot. A very kind resident helped us and also let us know that we look like very nice people and the hotel has a lot of sketchy inhabitants. Fortunately, that did not happen to us, however there are some things, right or wrong did not know. This is a hostel much more than it is a boutique hotel. It’s located in the basement of a residential building with no means of egress other than stairs that you enter with. The safety issue really bothered me. Also, each person is allowed 1 towel. The bathroom, albeit not shared provides zero privacy. The shower head was broken and made a huge mess. Our room was across the hall from the shared bathrooms. It was not a huge issue, but you can definitely hear others showering. The bed was clean and comfortable and the location is good. Due to the other factors, I probably will not use this brand again.
