Boutique Hotel EL NIDO Holbox

The hotel has a very clean modern look is however still very cozy, especially the area for the breakfast feels like a little sanctuary.

I have chosen it on purpose but be aware the hotel is about a 25 minutes walk from the center, which can be adventurous if it has rained recently.

Die Unterkunft war wie beschrieben sehr schön. Der Hotelbesitzer war sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Das Hotel konnte wie alles auf Holbox mit den einheimischen Taxis erreicht werden. Der Strand, Restaurants und kleine Supermärkte sind alle fußläufig mit circa 10 Minuten erreichbar. Zu erwähnen ist nur, dass das inbegriffene Frühstück nur aus Obst, Joghurt, Kaffee und Saft besteht. Sonstige Essen sind mit Mehrkosten verbunden. Uns hat der Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen, wir würden daher wiederkommen.

El Nido is just that- a nest of perfectly designed peace and calm on an island where those things are premium. Alberto and the staff make you feel welcome and untroubled- no thumping music, no loud voices, no intrusions. The hotel itself is gorgeously designed with a lovely pool. The bed was huge and very comfortable. For those of you looking to have a quiet stay just five minutes from the beach, and a beach with few people (unlike the other end of the island) this is for you. Well worth the adventure.

Very Nice hotel

The hotel and the room (i stayed on ground floor) were very nicely decorated, the room was beautiful with an outside seating area. Pool area is great, the breakfast was nice and staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. As a solo female traveller i felt very safe.

The location wasn’t ideal due to extremely flooded streets. Whilst no fault of the hotel the flooding needs to be addressed, as the hotel is excellent but the roads are inaccessible and I felt scared getting taxi’s through such deep water. To note I visited towards the end of rainy season. This might not be such an issue in dry season.

We had high hopes, but the trip was a disaster. Literally covered from head to toe in mosquito bites. No way to leave the property in foot without getting shredded with bites and dodging mosquito infested waters. Great pity. Franco tried his best, but it was hopeless.

Really beautiful hotel, relaxt and quiet. Clean! Really helpful staff. Great for couples or if you want to escape the busy beachtents.

Quite far away from the town (walking 30 mins), and first beachtent also about 10 mins.

Nice hotel design and beautiful rooms and structure

I am really sorry to leave this review because you can tell that is a very small hotel and they are really trying but there are a few Things that can definitely be improved: Nice hotel, beautiful rooms and general design. Payments: THEY DONT ACCEPT CARDS wich is surreal for a hotel in 2024 sorry. Unacceptable Location: Unfortunately the location is not the best especially if you come during the rainy season as we did The roads were inaccessible due to huge deep puddles that blocked the street. So we had to get a taxi for 250/300 mx$ to go wherever on the island Service: As for the service everyone was super nice but we had the feeling they were trying to make extra money out of us at all costs. For example Even though the streets were blocked the receptionists pushed several times for us to rent bikes from them at a price of 400mx$ for the whole day, saying that the streets were dry enough to ride so we didn’t rent them from the hotel but we took the advice and we rent them from a nearby bike rental for 150mx$ . This was the worst experience of our trip because the streets were flooded and we had to ride basically into water and mud and I also fell, same when we came back at night If you are a local you know that the streets are inaccessible by bike so don’t try to make me rent your bikes. Food was decent but even if they say that breakfast is included they will only give you a little bowl of fruit a small yogurt and two cookies and then will charge you extra for eggs and coffee. Also this should be mentioned in advance. Cleanliness: The room wasn’t cleaned after our first day Dirty glass was there where we left it and also towels and floor were dirty. If you are trying to be sustainable without washing towels you inform your guests in advance and you let them decide. You don’t just leave the dirty towels without saying anything.
