Isle of Skye Guest house

Large room, clean and facilities great.

We had a wonderful stay, we especially loved the complimentary snacks, breakfast items and drinks. It was also walkable to the restaurants and waterfront area.

We had a lovely and comfortable stay. Really pleased with it after a long day of driving from a road trip.

Clean and warm place with milk and snacks.

Room was well appointed. Check in instructions failed to mention we were in a back building which provided some confusion. Narrow staircase with luggage was interesting. Great location.

Was disappointed by the property. Had a garden room and felt it was a little run down. However the price was good compared to other properties on Skye. Parking was good.

If you are looking for a guesthouse, then give this a miss. It is at best an unattended bunkhouse. The description and pictures are very misleading. Our room was very small and needed a good clean. There was dust and cobwebs everywhere. The sash cords on the windows were broken meaning we couldn't open the windows to get rid of the smell from the plug in air freshener. The bathroom was tiny and the door wouldn't close properly. Breakfast was left in your room consisting of individual cereal boxes, instant porridge pots, yogurts and bottles of UHT milk and instant coffee sachets. On a positive the bed was clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and the shower was adequate. Given the overall condition of the property it is overpriced for what amounts to a bunkhouse. Please note staff are not onsite.

Nice quiet property close to activities on Isle of Skye. Good bed and had access to Netflex which was a bonus. Cereal and yogurt available in the room for breakfast.

I really hate to write a bad review, but there was just so little to like about our stay at the Isle of Skye Guest House. I chalk this up to me being a cheapskate and not understanding the Skye market, so DO YOUR RESEARCH. However, I will note that I saw quite a few similar facilities as we drove around the island -- a lot of tired looking inns that probably cost a pretty penny and were proudly displaying "no vacancy" signs in early September. I started my search for lodging about 10 months in advance of our trip and quickly discovered that many options were already full, cost more than I wanted to pay, or both. So I ended up booking the Isle of Skye Guest House and there you have it. Read the other reviews -- they're all true. Our room was really small, had no storage space, and provided one of the worst beds I've slept on as an adult: the mattress was mushy, sagging, and thoroughly uncomfortable. The walls were thin, the windows old and single pane, and the bathroom so small you had to close the door before you could turn around. Worst of all, the shower flooded and we had to use all our towels to sop up the water. And, as others have noted: there's no staff on site. If I ever find myself staying on Skye again, it won't be here. It's not that it was terrible or unsafe or not clean -- it's just that it wasn't at all what I wanted or expected for the money spent. So spend more -- it'll be worth it!
