Aloft by Marriott Anchorage

I was in town on business and my company chose this hotel for my stay. Aloft is a modernistic type hotel. When you enter the room, you have two small drawers for your clothes, 4 hangers to hang things, a tv, and a combo small fridge/coffee prep station. There is also a table of sorts, with an uncomfortable bench seating. Bare bones type room. Not complaining about the room, just don’t expect pictures on the walls and a more comfortable room you find in some upscale hotels. The staff was friendly and always greeted you when you arrived in the evening. Now for the downsides. The rooms were supposed to be cleaned every other day. I guess it depends on what you expect when your room is “cleaned”. The bathroom floor went over a week without being mopped, even thought I mentioned it to the front staff. About all that was done most of the time was the trash was emptied and the towels replaced. Sink counter was rarely wiped down, and the floor in the bedroom wasn’t vacuumed except maybe once. The had an issue with their heat/ac unit while i was there. The issue made such a loud noise in the rooms you couldn’t sleep at all. When it first started I complained about it thinking it was just my room and found out it affected most of the rooms. Made for a couple of interesting days before they got it fixed. I expressed my concerns about the noise and lack of housekeeping in an email addressed to the General Manager and never heard back from him. This was after I found his email on a card in my room that said he wanted to know if anything was wrong with your room. I don’t think I would stay at another Aloft Hotel if I had my choice.

Room was very clean, cute, fridge, microwave and 2 bottles of water as well as the standard coffee. Only note is that my car was broken into in the parking lot. Not really their fault but of note for guests: don't leave anything of value in your car.
