Windsor Luxury Studio Apartment

Location was excellent, close to everything including the train station for our trip to London. Apartment was clean with everything you would need. it was well decorated and comfy.

This was our first stop of a 6-week driving trip, and I am writing this 6 weeks after we stayed there, so some details are fuzzy. The best things were certainly the price and the location. We only started booking lodgings in Apr-May before our Jun 6 arrival, so most things were already booked, and our choices in Windsor were few, so we definitely lucked out finding this one, esp since our budget criterion was to keep below $120 a night. Having a kitchen allowed us to avoid the high-priced restaurants in Windsor, which is a total tourist town with tourist prices (except for the Thai buffet down by the Theatre Royal) -- we could bring prepared food home from Marks & Spencer (the best takeout food in England IMHO). The apartment was comfortable and nicely furnished. We had expected it to be noisy, since the main street of town is right in front, but the noise didn't start till after 8 am or so. It was a reasonably short walk to the main part of town and to Windsor Castle, where we had booked advance tickets.

The parking was the worst problem, so much so that I would advise travelers to avoid bringing a car. The train station is only a half mile away and it's not a hard walk unless you pack heavy. We couldn't park in front or nearby because, like all of England, long-term parking is only allowed in a few places in each town. I had to drive up on the sidewalk just to unload the car. We found a long-term multi-story parking garage about 5 blocks away (the owner never mentioned it), since our plan was to stay put and walk to Windsor Castle, Eton, and Windsor Great Park, as well as just explore the town and get over jetlag. The second, lesser, problem was the complex process of getting our key to the place. We had no experience with the widespread English "keybox" system, yet the owner assumed we did. The process was: first open a locked gate with a combination; then open a keybox cleverly locked to a fence in the back of the building with another combination; then take the multiple keys to the front door and figure out how to open it; then figure out which apartment it was (the owner did not tell us). If a woman had not been exiting the building, who told us it was probably apartment 16, we likely would have spent an hour trying every apartment and scaring the bejeezus out of the residents.

Bed was comfortable

Had to follow up on check in details multiple times No lift- Had to carry suitcases up 3x flights of stairs Room Key- difficult to lock and unlock Carpets were dirty Very little equipment in kitchen, for example no whisk or mixing bowl. Washing machine very difficult to operate with no instructions available. Apartment was extremely hot and no proper aircon installed.

The property was clean and comfortable.

Another bedside table and lamp, only one side had this. Privacy blinds on windows would have been nice as the property is overlooked.

Although only received a couple of hours before access, the arrgts were clear with useful video. Great location, very short walk to Windsor Castle/main street. Comfy bed.

2 flights of stairs to appt, only a problem for anyone with physical limitations. Some road noise. No immediate parking outside for offloading travel luggage, managed tho' with car hazard warning lights on.

The listing didn’t mention the fact that there was no one at the property to let us in despite the fact I selected pay at property and that was accepted. Money was taken from my card through hotels.com. It was extremely difficult to contact the property manager also, as we were travelling and only had access to wifi from a lucky encounter with a neighbour, otherwise we would have been stuck on the street.Also nothing mentioned that the apartment was on the 3 rd floor with no lift, luckily we were able to carry our cases up the stairs but older folk may have extreme difficulty. The apartment once in was fine good amenities & clean.
