"Upstate Beauty"

6.0

Beautiful property and the cabins were charming and well maintained. The food and drinks at the restaurant were great. Everyone working was very kind. But It being the days between Christmas and NYE, the staff was overwhelmed. This was reflected in the service level and crowding at the restaurant & spa and lack of parking. I would stay here again because it is gorgeous. I would just pick a time that was less popular.

"Excellent, but a bit less secluded than expected"

10.0

Everything was excellent - service was helpful but non-invasive, property was beautiful, food at restaurant was extremely good by two picky NYers standards - my only issue was the cabins were not very well soundproofed. If you were traveling with friends or family, probably not an issue, but on a couples trip to be able to hear the entire couple next doorโ€™s conversation, TV viewing choices, etc etc felt a lil โ€œnot the pointโ€ of the rustic, isolated cabin. For the price point, they should have significantly better soundproofing - our couple next door woke us up both mornings of our stay. With that said, weโ€™d still visit the property again, as itโ€™s well-located to explore local towns and the amenities (restaurant, gym, overall aesthetic) were flawless.

The view and decorations were amazing. However, the water from there tasted extremely badโ€”not just the water from the restaurant but also the water from the tap in your room. The reception's service is okay.

"Beautiful resort and setting, but lacking service-wise and low customer touch/delight for the price"

6.0

The rooms are sizeable, design-oriented and the location is charming. The farmhouse was beautiful and generally all the buildings were beautifully designed. Restaurant was good, prices not terrible for the quality,

The service was truly lacking for the nightly price point. On check in, no one told us what amenities there were, where they were, etc. There is zero signage around the property directing you on where to go or highlighting what's there to explore. The staff is apathetic and quiet and not particularly interested in helping or going above and beyond. There's a self-serve bar in the farmhouse but it only had canned wine (which is not typically good) and had hardly anything left to mix with. There are firepits and fireplaces around but the staff wouldn't provide smores kits outside of restaurant hours (the restaurant closed at 9 and the smores kits are in the restaurant so you're out of luck if you want to do that after dinner). If they were in your room with a small map or list of amenities, at least you could make do on your own and have more to do. For the price we were surprised it was so barebones and DIY, you're on your own to figure out where everything is and what closes when etc.

"Don't waste your time at The Restaurant at Inness"

2.0

THE RESTAURANT AT INNESS: We were upstate for the weekend and were truly looking forward to our dinner at Inness. The resort was clearly busy with a wedding taking place and upon arrival to the restaurant, we were told that we would need to wait 10 minutes for our table. We agreed and had not problem with the wait so we proceeded to the bar to order a cocktail. While waiting we saw two other parties that arrived after us be seated and after 30 minutes, we checked back in with the host. The host said they "had been dealing with things" and we then waited another 10 minutes for a table to clear before we were seated. Our server didn't know menu items and wasn't able to get clarity or details. And, several of us used the bathroom while there and asked twice to have the towels in the bathroom restocked which never was completed. We ended up taking our napkins to the bathroom to use as towels. At the end of the evening we gave feedback to the host who we learned was also the GM and the response was "the team is new and I knew this would be a tough night as the doors opened, thank you for the feedback, have a good night." It is clear that the restaurant at Inness needs better management to manage seatings (minimize wait as they are able), train staff (don't put staff in situations they are not trained to manage), maintain the restaurant throughout the evening (restock bathroom towels) and handle customer service. As we walked out of the restaurant the host/general manager scurried by us with their bag and waved goodnight. Really disappointing and as a result, I would never recommend going to this restaurant. Read reviews on the hotel where you will find a slew of insights on the restaurant. I wish we would have done that before our visit.

Stay started off very well, beautiful property and nice greeting, but in high end, all in one type place consistent attention to detail in all areas is critical to the idea of a great stay . Our initial perception of well rounded attention to detail and service changed when our server abandoned us in the middle of our dinner service. Even though the manager did try and compensate for this dining mishap, our table abandonment did shift the mood of our evening and somehow shift how we felt about our stay.

"Ooof"

A two night stay was almost $4,000. Inness, in its current state is at best a $350 per night hotel charging $500-$1400 per night. It would seem the events such as weddings and the kids camp take precedence over the guests staying at the hotel. For example, the pool is unavailable until after 11am. The grounds are wildly overgrown and not maintained. The paths are difficult to use safely especially in the dark and/or bad weather. Other than walking through the overgrown grass, pool or golf there isn't much else to do there. The farmhouse rooms are basic. The room didn't get made up as the maid didn't speak english. She didn't understand being asked to come back in 5 minutes. The walls are very thin. You do hear everything. If someone is awake, the whole farmhouse will be. The locks on the doors only open and close with a push rather than a turn which makes a loud noise. So it's impossible to be quiet later at night. Breakfast is not included. However, some pretty nasty coffee is sometimes available in the kitchen area. $12 for a packet for chips. There's nothing else food wise at the farmhouse. The restaurant's food and service was great and reasonably priced. The SPA is very hard to get a reservation and tips are mandatory. The staff were very nice. There is a lot of potential at Inness and I did have a nice stay but it's embarrassingly overpriced and in desperate need of improvements. I can only assume they have run out of money after building all the cabins and have nothing left to maintain or run the hotel propelry. I wouldn't go back.
