"Mystery charges made on my credit card"

4.0

Check your credit card statement after your trip here! I was randomly charged for things I didn't purchase, and when I called to dispute these charges, they told me they came from the Inness restaurant and from things I took at the hotel room (mini-fridge). I never visited the hotel restaurant, and I made sure not to take anything from the room. When I shared this with the hotel, they told me they would remove the charges, "since it must have been charged to my room by accident." It's been a week, and the charges haven't been removed. I called again, but haven't received proof of the charge cancellation in print. Now I'm just going to take this up with my credit card company. It's a shame this sort of thing happened, because otherwise Inness is quite beautiful. However, I don't think it is worth the price... Additionally, the hassle of fighting off these mystery charges that were made without my permission for things I never even purchased has just turned me off, and I just don't ever want to go again. I don't trust this place with my credit card info.

"The place to be, or not to be."

4.0

This could be the coolest place ever, but it's not, won't and never will be, because it will be copied much better, with no kinks, and the "in the know" peeps will move on. Imagine an upstate hotel on 225+ acres, but not enough parking, so you might have to wait and circle a while (12 minutes) before finding a spot in a muddy gravel lot. And for Eh-em, $1250, you get awesome Aesop products, but just two bottles of water and an exorbitantly priced mini-bar - like $13 for a beer! Come on guys. The Spa, which was fully booked is $275 for a an hour session, with a mandatory 18% tip included. Wait there's more, the restaurant. The space is loud but nice and the food delicious and well priced, but the service unacceptable. Lang waits for drinks, food delivered all at once, or the wrong order. We had four meals during the week, and by the end, we just had to laugh when our breakfast came ten minutes apart, or four appetizers arriving all at once. I'll never go back nor recommend it. For that price, ($1250/night), breakfast should be included, the minibar complimentary, the waitstaff properly trained, etc., etc. The photos of the property are awesome, the rest of the experience, not.

"Luxury Price Without The Luxury Experience"

4.0

I was excited by the instagram posts. I attended a wedding here and drove with a bunch of friends from Manhattan. Understandably we were all thirsty. This is when the issues started. 1. Concierge at Check in- leaves a lot to be wanted. No offer of water upon arrival and when asked there were none. 2. Stayed in a bungalow and the floors were already in poor condition 3. We had to handle our own baggage 4. The property is vast and if you are staying in a bungalow beware....it is not landscaped (ie. weeds all around and no build in steps) it was raining a lot and i nearly broke my ankle. Property drivers should have had umbrellas for us and guided our walks. 5. We had lunch and they completely got our entire order wrong and charged us 5x when we ordered only 2 portions. Whatever shrugged that off too. 6. For the price tag there should be basic toileteries like makeup remover etc. in the room Also familities staying here beware...they will close the main pool by 4pm daily to prepare for wedding events which there are every weekend. And there isn't much else to do. All in all this is a summer camp for adults.

"great potential...."

6.0

This place has SO much potential and we mostly loved our stay. I held back on 4/5 stars for a few reasons: 1. the website did NOT mention that the bigger pool was closed-- we got here and were told that it was under construction. 2. there is an honor bar at the farmhouse where we were staying--fantastic! Except it was almost always roped off. Why??? The whole point of an honor bar is that it is ALWAYS open. There was no other way to get ice so I had to slip under the rope to get some. Just nuts. 3. the shuttle system is good in theory but not great in practice. We were not "allowed" to drive our vehicle down to our room (usually we walked! but late at night and in the rain not so easy) and often waited 20 to 30 minutes!

The property is very quiet. The grand king cabin is spacious. The cute guy who droves us around was very friendly and shared a lot of information about the property. The only thing we were not happy is about the hosts at the restaurant and reception. You can feel the microaggression from them as a non-white guest. We were informed that as a hotel guest, the reservation is not required. When we walking at 8 AM on Sunday, we were told the whole restaurant was fully booked and the only table available is a tiny table against the wall. actually, the whole dining area was pretty empty, even by the time we left around 9 AM. The host told us that is the only table we can use. We never experienced this level of discrimination in other luxury resorts. Think twice if you want to visit here but you are not white.

"My new favorite hotel"

10.0

Inness is absolutely beautiful, and we had a magical stay. The pastoral setting over acres of land is so peaceful that it took only a few moments for us to relax completely. We enjoyed our wine in the Adirondack chairs by firepits before dining in the gorgeous restaurant with terrific food and a lovely view. After dinner, we went to what looked like a small club-like bar to enjoy cocktails and chat with the bartender. One evening, we joined a ceramic class. The setting invites guests to walk and enjoy nature. There are meandering hiking paths (I brought my dog!) and the restaurant, farmhouse and cottages are set apart from one another to allow for plenty of time outdoors. It feels rural, yet elevated. The farmhouse is reserved for guests only, and it's like a big home with several living rooms with fireplaces, an honor bar, and a giant screened-in porch to settle down to talk or read a book. The interior design is award-worthy - minimal and gorgeous! Mostly, I appreciated the genuine hospitality we received. Every staff member went out of their way to be helpful. The guys in the golf carts offered rides with a smile, the servers seemed so happy to accommodate any need and the bartender created a new cocktail just for us. They booked a last-minute massage for me, welcomed my dog everywhere, and could not have been more kind. We stayed in one of the cabins, and next time we'll try the farmhouse. We decided we're coming at least once a year! LOVED it.
