MainStay Suites Florence - Darlington

Nothing about this hotel did I like.

It was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. I was traveling with a chronically sick child and it was 2am is the only reason we didn’t walk out. Where do I start? There was a foot size spider web above one of the beds, dirt on the floor and doors, mold coming from the vent in the bathroom. Stove dirty, gfp electrical plug broken, holes burned in the bed spread and battery taken out of the fire detector. There were charcoal grills around the outside and trash on the ground. People were hanging outside their rooms smoking. This place is in shambles.

Most filthy disgusting place ,no toilet cover or flusher,nasty ants and bugs tub and sink all blocked up when using water ,floors filthy a mess our side with Garbage everywhere. Dumpster over flowing with tons of trash Need I say enough. I have pictures inside my room to prove how filthy sty this place was, door to room we had to pound and kick open it stuck so bud Extremely loud noise playing from some rooms

Stale air in lobby, poor paint on exterior, cigarette butts on walkway, people loitering on walkway, room not as expected. We did not feel safe here, it was weird. Checked in, checked out, went to another place.

This hotel was not a typical MainStay Suites. It looks like they took over a local run down motel and put their name on it. You can tell they are doing some renovations, but even the rooms that are already renovated still need some work. Our bathroom door was coming apart at the bottom and did not have a locking door knob. The door knob on the inside of the bathroom door was covered in dry plaster. Our front door did not lineup with the door frame properly and needed some extra muscle to get it to close all the way. The tub had a large rectangular white stick on cover up an area of the tub that was scraped or messed up somehow, but didn't even cover all the marks. The ad for the hotel said breakfast was included. Unless a liquid coffee breakfast is your thing, there was nothing else provided. The eat in area where I assume breakfast might normally be served was blocked off. I booked 2 non-smoking rooms, yet one of them smelled like a smoke factory. When asked for a different room, they claimed they were full and came down with some kind of fragrance spray. They sprayed the curtain and area over the fan/blower and said, "There you go." What the heck? And there was an outlet in one room, right next to the bed that did not work at all. I would not stay here again and makes me question the MainStay Suites brand now.

This hotel should be condemned. There are numerous health violations and the place is very unclean and sketchy. There is a large dumpster in the back that is full of residential waste that I believe is coming from workers that are subsidizing housing for the work they do there. The total smell inside and outside of the hotel is atrocious. When I booked the room I actually chose the higher rate so that I could pay cash at the hotel but my credit card was charged the full amount anyway. When I asked the front desk about it they were very rude and told me I would have to call a third party company to resolve the issue the third party company told me only the front desk could resolve the issue. The biggest issue I have is with myself for even staying at this hotel. Do not stay here, you have been warned!

What a dump! This hotel should not be open at all. There is a huge dumpster in the back that is full of residential type trash. I think the hotel is subsidizing houses for their workers and that's where they're putting their trash. We saw several rats coming to and from the dumpster towards the building. The whole property stinks inside and out. The room was dank and unclean. The free breakfast that was advertised was non-existent. I do not believe I would have ate it anyway looking at the conditions of this property. On top of all of this I was charged an extra fee to pay cash at the hotel when I got there but the hotel charged the full amount to my card anyway. When I spoke to the clerk I was told to contact the third party in which I booked the room from but the hotel was the one that charged my card. If there was ever going to be a show called quote Hotel nightmares"? This would be the premier episode. Do not stay here, you have been warned!
