Tribe Yala - Luxury Camping

Immersive jungle/safari experience.

Unfortunately there were mice/rats in the room one night due to the torrential rain storms.

This is a gorgeous place, hidden deep in the lush forested boundary area surrounding Yala National Park. Just to get here is an adventure: you rendezvous with their safari jeep at the end of the paved road, from where you ride with elevated excitement along bumpy dirt tracks through 'the jungle' and rural farmland into the hidden oasis that is Tribe Yala's glamorous tented area. You're looked after by a smiling and humble manager, educated in England, who exudes skillfull customer service with his efficient possy of staff at every turn. The tents are wonderfully large and so comfortable. Showers always hot. Wi-fi always on - in the middle of nowhere! Love it. You're in the wild, so you are always joined by nature here - be they spirited songful birds, skulking monitor lizards, croaking frogs, marching millipedes et al - they all come to say Hi. The evening meals were fabulous - some of the best food I ate in Sri Lanka, and the breakfasts in the treehouse were wonderful. Yala Park was closed at the time of our visit because of storm flooding, so we couldn't do the full safari we had hoped for, but instead the amazing manager proactively arranged for us to visit a fantastic nearby Buddhist Monastery, it's 'twin temples' perched high above the canopy on giant natural rock alters, affording amazing views. The journey there and back was a safari in it's own right: amazing bird life and mammals all around! And because of the storm cancellation, this adventure was provided free of charge. If we ever return to Sri Lanka, we will most surely return to Tribe Yala.

El entorno es precioso, súper bonito. La gente que trabaja es encantadora y tienen muchas ganas de que lo disfrutes. La cabaña y almohada súper cómoda . Las cabañas están limpias y en buen estado Como teníamos Safari nos dieron unos bag box con el desayuno muy rico todo y súper atentos en dárnoslo a las 5 am . La cena era entre antorchas muy romántico y agradable.

Nos pareció caro para el sitio que es .La cena está decente, pero no hay ningún lujo. Simplemente es caro, pero no pondría ninguna pega .

We stayed at Tribe Yala for 1 night on December 1st for the start of our honeymoon. The location, the staff and the whole experience were 10/10. Although Sri Lanka had just been hit by the cyclone, the staff were still on hand to ensure we were more than comfortable and made alternative arrangements for our safari as the government had closed Yala. The eagle room was very comfortable and clean, the bed itself was lovely and the pool was much needed after a long day of travelling! It was amazing to see the monkeys in the trees during the day and hearing all of the wildlife around us in the night, it felt very exciting! Dinesh (Head ranger) kindly provided us with a few alternative excursions we could do during our stay as Yala was closed. We were taken out along the border that sits between the camp and Yala (the buffer zone) by the lovely Thaviru. Thaviru was very knowledgeable and answered any question we had about the wildlife we saw. We still managed to see two bull elephants (one with tusks), eagles, crocodiles, deer, snakes and the tracks from the famous leopards. We also got to see the amazing sithulpawwa temple and learn more about the stupas and their history whilst taking in the breathtaking views of Yala from above! The food at tribe Yala was expectional, I am coeliac/gluten free and the staff were extremely accommodating. All food we were served was delicious authentic Sri Lankan food. The staff also very kindly set up a romantic candlelit dinner on the grounds of the hotel and made us a cake to celebrate the occasion. Breakfast was incredible, we had treetop views overlooking the nature around us. To eat, we had Sri Lankan curry and hoppers, along with fresh fruit. We would definitely recommend it to all! Overall, this was an unforgettable one of a kind experience and the most perfect way to kickstart our honeymoon. All the staff were incredible, Dinush, Dinesh and Thaviru were extremely attentive and helpful during our stay.

The property is near yala national park, in between the jungle and Seperate, private properties. Staffs are very helpful

Food quality is very good. But quantity is less.
