Receptionist took 10 minutes to open front door when i arrived, at 9pm looked as though she was in a nighty. Kettle in room ok but no cup/mug, tea, spoon. Stairs and shelves up to room grubby. Some of breakfast overcooked. Having stayed here before, the standard has deteriorated!

GBGBJohn the waiter in the morning was the most polite and helpful young man who tried to resolve our issues. The location was ideal for access to the town. The cooked breakfast was good.
The hotel was freezing cold, the first room we were allocated had a wind coming through the window, damp in the bedroom and black mound and damp in the shower room. There was damp and black mound in the common areas of the property, and water coming through the light fittings. The second room we were allocated had a broken sink unit, damp and peeling wall paper, blistering paint from the damp, a sliding door to the shower/toilet with no lock on it, a broken shower soap holder with no soap in the soap dispenser, and a used razor left in it, toilet seat was broken, the shower tray facia had not been finished leave a large exposed void under the shower tray. When you ran the water into the sink it came out yellow even after running for a prolonged amount of time, there was no hot water, and when we turned the shower on it tripped the electrics to the whole floor, the staff did not know how to rectify this, this points to an electrical fault, possible risk of fire. There was also overloaded electrical sockets which is a major fire risk. There was also damp and peeling wallpaper in the dining room. The on duty receptionist did not have a clue what she was doing or how to help, the manager was very unhelpful or sympathetic, even the staff told us he doesn't care, and treats them badly. We were offered £50 compensation, however this is not enough for what we experienced. We have stayed in this hotel many times previously and never had a bad experience, due to the state of the property this time, my child and wife being exposed to black mound, freezing conditions (due to the heating not being on) and such awful conditions throughout the building and lack of customer service from the manager we will not be staying here again, and have cancelled our booking for the summer.

Everything else. The staff were incompetent she even asked ME to help HER use HER card machine and do MY OWN payment. When she was handing me room key she said “is this the key to your room is it a 6 or 9” how am I supposed to know if that’s my room key??? Then the room we were given was not at all suitable in which I’ll give it to them they moved us into a nicer room however this was still an absolute tip. It was dirty, there was dirty mugs left out on the side, we think they use this room for themselves, there was damp wallpaper along the roof. There was a USED razor in our shower and a USED mouthwash cup in the cupboard that you could see mouth prints and dried toothpaste on. We did not feel comfortable at all in this hotel so we barricaded our door. It was freezing I would not at all recommend this place to anyone. These people do not know how to run a hotel and that’s that.

There was no central heating at all despite on their page saying heating is a facility. They gave me a blowy heater and a small radiator that did barely anything and it was minus two outside and I had twin babies with me. It was freezing. And during the night the power went out so the heaters didn’t work for about an hour until another guest worked out how to reset the fuse box as the lady at the front desk had no idea how to. The manager told me to turn the hairdryer on, it was almost midnight and I had two sleeping babies was I meant to warm the room up with a hairdryer????? I have emailed about how terribly a nights sleep I had and I had a three hour drive home the next day but I have had no response.
