"Impeccable, more than a golf resort and spa."

10.0

Goodness, what a great surprise. We booked this hotel for 3 nights as a base for a wedding we were attending. We were dreading a golf and spa resort set up; but this is a 5 star ( Michelin recognised) hotel. The service was impeccable, cannot fault it and we are picky. It started with excellent valet parking and continued. Room very high quality, super comfy beds, high quality linen, everything you expect and bathroom products not inaccessible up in a naff locked set up. Great food, fine wine and good champagnes. This is a superb 5 star hotel, near a golf course!

"Very enjoyable stay"

10.0

This was our second visit to the hotel, general standards are really good, hotel in good condition, very clean and tidy, staff really good, breakfast is absolutely fantastic, lunch ok, dinner quality not so good so we ate at local restaurants in the evening. Both pools are very good, one for adults and other for families.

"Disappointing Front Desk Experience Despite Globalist Status"

6.0

I recently returned to La Zambra after having a wonderful stay last year, but unfortunately, this visit fell short—especially in terms of service from the front desk. As a Hyatt Globalist, I’ve grown accustomed to a high standard of care and recognition across Hyatt’s global properties. When I requested to add my partner to the reservation for a one-night stay, I was informed—rather bluntly—that she would be charged an additional €35 for breakfast and a separate deposit would be needed. While policies can vary, it was the tone and dismissive attitude from the front desk agent that left a negative impression. I was also told that “this is a different kind of Hyatt” because La Zambra is part of the Unbound Collection—implying that my elite status didn’t carry the same weight here. Isidro @ Bamboleo bar was great. He made the trip memorable by providing great customer service and conversation during my multiple visits to eat. The bar has what I believe the best food at the hotel and he was able to remember how I like my food prepared everyday. La Zambra is a beautiful hotel with great potential, but service—especially at the front desk—needs to better reflect the brand values that loyal Hyatt guests have come to expect.

"Excellent luxury stay for a golfing holiday."

Front door staff were friendly, helpful and always pleased to see us. Helping with golf equipment to suggesting local restaurants for us to try when out. The turndown service in our room was also a nice touch. Never a queue at front desk and staff there were always able to help us with our questions and queries. Always lovely to return ‘home’ after a round of golf.

"Sophisticated, stylish & family friendly!"

10.0

Our second visit to this outstanding hotel travelling as a gay couple with our son and it was just as good as the first! Although we arrived much later than planned due to French air traffic control strikes affecting our flights, we received a warm, professional and friendly welcome from Mario and Sultan who swiftly helped us get settled in and organised with a late night room service snack. Our room was large and airy, beautifully designed, decorated and maintained like the rest of the hotel. Everything about the room was flawless, including the sofa bed made up for our son complete with toy and mini robe and slippers. The room was incredibly quiet and comfortable. The breakfast offering is very good at the stylish Palmito restaurant. This time we found the service was passable, but not outstanding as we have previously experienced. Each morning, once shown to a table, we were pretty much ignored and found it difficult to track down waiting staff to order eggs etc and it took a long time for our empty dishes to be cleared. Also, unlike our last visit, we were told to help ourselves to coffee rather than it being brought to the table. Unfortunately on several occasions we found that the self serve machines had ran out of beans or milk and had not been attended to by the many passing staff. Nevertheless the daily varied smoothie was out of this world and the variety and presentation of breakfast foods generous and attractive. We love the pool areas at this hotel with amazing gardens and salt water pools. We found the service by the larger garden pool near the pool cafe to be excellent with all waiters being professional and friendly. There was always a plentiful supply of large and fluffy pool towels and ample areas for sunbathing, helped by the attendants who were quick to tidy and reset subbed and bathing areas when they were vacated. We ventured to the 2 infinity pools near palmito and unfortunately found the poolside service there very poor, with no response to the service call buttons and long waits for drinks. Many of the subbed here were draped with towels suggesting occupation, but left unused all day which was not picked up by pool staff. We had another outstanding and memorable dinner at Picador, which is a beautiful setting and all service was excellent. I wish the slightly unusual menu was explained a little better to be ordered more like tapas dishes, but the food we ordered was incredibly presented and tasty. I have not had another holiday meal quite like it! Dinner at Palmito was also excellent combined with the Flamenco show, which we enjoyed again this time as much as when we saw it on our previous visit last summer. We don’t remember her name, but the waitress with stylish grey bob hair and glasses remembered us and provided excellent service at the table, including my favourite tiramisu dessert made at the table. The orange hour and DJ at the Bambeleo bar are a particular treat. We greatly enjoyed the chill out DJ whilst watching the sunset over the gardens, golf course and mountains in the distance, very memorable. Our 10 year old son was interested to go to kids club, it even though there seemed to be plenty of children in the hotel, the kids club was very quiet and seemingly under used. He stayed for a short while and enjoyed his time there. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for discerning families looking for a family friendly but stylish and sophisticated get away. We had hired a car, but the hotel is so “other-worldly” that we found it hard to leave. We stayed for 3 nights, which was just about right with 2 adults and 10 year old sharing (admittedly a spacious and stylish) room to extend our holiday at another resort elsewhere in the Marbella area. We cannot wait to go back!

"A Great Stay. Amazing Staff"

10.0

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at La Zambra. Every member of staff that we encountered during our stay were friendly, smiled, asked us how we were and couldn’t do enough to help. The hotel sits outside of town and so you’ll need a car or taxi to get anywhere. The concierge team were excellent and pre-ordering or calling taxis as we needed them. A trip up to Mijas Pueblo was around €17 and takes under 20 minutes. The spa was excellent offering yoga classes most days and the gym was had a good range of cardio and weights available. The entire hotel is immaculate and our room was lovely. We had a junior suite and being on the ground floor we were fortunate enough to have a large outdoor area with sun beds, table and chairs. Even though it was on the ground floor, you still feel slightly elevated. The cleaning and turn down service is efficient with towels and toiletries are replaced constantly. The aircon is modern and silent but if you’d prefer you can use a ceiling fan. There is no chance of going hungry at breakfast as the choice is endless. There’s seating inside and outside. We also ate the both bar areas. The portions were very generous and again, the food was excellent. As others have said, it would be nice if the bar stayed open past midnight, but it’s a very minor thing in comparison to all the positives. Overall a really great hotel with probably some of the best staff we’ve experienced.
