Genji Kyoto, a Member of Design Hotels

Genji kyoto rooms and customer service was above and beyond. They helped us with our dinner bookings as well. We will definitely come back.

It was not on the main road, but little walk only is needed.

Colazione varia (continental, western e Japanise) ed ottima. Possibile farla (prenotando) anche sul rooftop con bella vista sul fiume e sulla città Il rooftop è davvero bello come anche il resto dell’hotel

Il letto aggiunto è un futon. Ci si deve un attimo abituare ma tutto sommato non è così scomodo.

good location the best assets of the hotel: Sergei from the reception and the housekeeper - the only two members of the staff that were deeply affable and showed genuine kindness in assisting. touches of design that are interesting - for instance the toilet looks waaaay better than the room itself!:)))

- You feel like you’re sleeping in a furniture storage room. It’s extremely crowded. The bed is blocked on both sides by pieces of furniture, so to get in and out you either have to jump over a table or a couch… or crawl to the end of the bed and get out by the foot side. - The staff is mostly polite, but nothing more than that. Well below the high Japanese hospitality standards we experienced in all the other hotels in Japan! in the last morning, we even had an employee display insolent behavior poorly masked under a cold politeness. - The hotel rules promote a near-maniacal insistence around breakfast. We arrived at the hotel in boiling heat, and the very first thing we were asked—after sitting down—was to immediately choose the type of eggs we wanted for the next day’s breakfast! When I said we couldn’t think about that at the moment, they let it go for a few minutes… then called our room. And asked again at reception when we came down. Each morning they would call the room to confirm whether we were coming for breakfast and what our egg choices were—even though we had already confirmed them the day before, and sometimes again that very morning. And the choices stayed the same for four days!! :)) A very inappropriate obsession, bordering on harassment. - Poor breakfast, repetitive and tiring—especially after four days of eating exactly the same thing. - Breakfast is served… in the hotel reception. - The other, more proper option is the rooftop. But with 45 degrees Celsius outside, that’s hardly an option. Strange. - The blackouts are theoretical. so for a room facing east, you wake up with the sunrise. not pleasant. especially during vacation - At best, this is a low 4-star level of room and service (with the two exceptions mentioned above)—but at a 5-star price!

Everything was perfect! - Location could not have been better. Right in the middle of the city at the River, but in in a quiet area that feels like a small village. Very convenient for day trips as it is only a 10-15 minute walk from Kyoto station - Design of the hotel and room was absolutely stunning and stylish - Food was good and service as well - Stuff was very kind, friendly and helpful - also with excellent restaurant recommendations

Very unique

Très bel hôtel avec un personnel chaleureux et accueillant. Chambre avec vue sur le jardin, ce qui était très apaisant. L’emplacement était également très bien. L’hôtel Genji a été notre hôtel coup de cœur pendant notre voyage. Nous recommandons fortement.

Beautiful design, all the comforts, great staff.
