Hotel Thaxter

This is truly a one of a kind hotel.Everything is done via text or phone and the doors have codes (so no pets are necessary). This small boutique hotel is right in downtown Portsmouth NH. Everything is walkable from here. The staff are amazing at making you feel welcome and appreciated. I’m already looking forward to our next stay!

I loved staying in this hotel. The location was perfect, room was more than comfortable and very cozy, nice touches throughout the lobby area and the room itself. I will be back.

Nice hotel in a great location, walkable downtown, However parking is very limited, the rooms are rather small think cruise ship small, and it is very loud. We were in room 10 and could hear everything outside and downstairs including the snow plow all night long.

The Thaxter Hotel was good (not great). We like the easy access and check-in/check-out process. The rooms are clean and quirky, bathrooms are nice but the bed was pretty uncomfortable. We picked this hotel based on its proximity to The Library restaurant which was literally right around the corner. No views from the rooms but we only stayed one night so it was no big deal. It is an easy walk to just about anything in Portsmouth (a great little town). I don't know that I would rush back to the Thaxter but it served its purpose for us. The coffee setup in the lobby was perfect and accessible 24 x 7. I would say overall our experience was good, not great! :)

Loved the history. Heating was fine, bath and linens were very comfortable. You have all the modern amenities and the pleasing to the eye old decor. Staff was very helpful and friendly. THANK GOD for that elevator!

Parking was difficult, little confusing with one-way streets and having to unload in an alleyway.

Room was cozy and put together well. Short walk to amazing restaurants and shopping.

Nothing, it was fantastic!
