"A beautiful place run by a lovely team, but it’s essential to note that dogs are not allowed in the property."

7.0

Bank Ground is a beautifully located and well loved family farm that it is a privilege to be able to stay in. The team we are all lovely and extremely helpful. The food was great and so was the canoeing. The grounds were stunning and the communal spaces were very cosy.

The property is listed as dog friendly but dogs are not allowed in the property. Dogs have to stay in an outhouse. The meaning of dog friendly has changed a lot in just the last 5 years alone: Pubs, restaurants, and hotels now allow dogs to stay by their owners sides whilst they dine, sleep etc. A dog friendly listing gives this impression and so it’s a misnomer to say that Bank Ground is truly dog friendly by today’s standards.

"Great location. Lovely friendly staff. Excellent food. But not value for money. Very dated decor."

7.0

The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was excellent.

For the price we paid the facilities and services did not match. No toiletries were provided. Beds not made or bathrooms cleaned and the decor very dated.

"An idyllic oasis in a glorious part of the country. The food and hosts were excellent."

10.0

The host family and their staff were very friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble, even during some very busy periods for them. The food was superb, mostly from their own farm. The steak was delicious and the sticky toffee pudding was the best I have ever had.

Only down side for us was a very creaky old wooden bed. Although it fitted well with the ambience of the room, it was a little uncomfortable and very loud during the night when turning over!

"Wonderful! Loved the house/surroundings, crafts, goods for sale, pleasant atmosphere. We got lost"

10.0

Excellent breakfast, on this occasion it would have helped if we could have had breakfast at 7.30am as we needed to be out early. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Loved the Swallows & Amazons house

I would hae liked to be able to have milk in the room to make a cup of tea - perhaps those little individual portions ?
