Great, central location, the Powell’s Books sign was visible out our window. Parking was cheap and easy using the SpotHero app. Will stay here again when in Portland.

"Turns out a hotel is a pretty amazing thing"

10.0

Cannot cannot cannot recommend more highly. As someone who's cheaped out and stayed at Airbnbs for most of the last decade, spending practically the same amount for...my own room with good wifi and all necessary amenities privately attached to my room and actual human beings helping to check me in and a big air conditioned common area and a coffee shop with good food and all centrally located?? A codified security system?! I've literally unlearned the incredible value of a good hotel until this weekend. Will def be back on my next trip. Britt and Lars at the front desk were great too <3

I enjoyed my trip and stay in Portland. This hotel is such a gem, a historical building located downtown, with great staff, and a view from the room. If I visit Portland again, this hotel will definitely be my pick again!

Area is surrounded by a lot of homeless. Which could be tolerated if there was near by parking available.

I was in Portland for 5 days, 4 nights, and The Clyde was super cozy and a welcome place to return to after a long day of exploring. The environment and vibes of the place were immaculate and I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Portland

"Catastrophic and Care Less Clyde by Kasa"

2.0

⭐ 1-Star Review ⭐ I booked 5 nights at the Portland Clyde through Booking.com because I was working nearby. Pet-friendly, affordable, walkable — on paper, it seemed ideal. In reality, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Here’s why: Pet policy nightmare: Even though I booked a pet-friendly room, the hotel acted like they had no record of my dog. I was forced to show paperwork and pay a $35 deposit. When I extended my stay by one night, they tried to charge me another $35 deposit. When I refused, they locked me out of my room, holding my belongings hostage. AI “service” = no service: The hotel uses an “AI-friendly” front desk that feels more like a call center than hospitality. Real issues got scripted, dismissive responses. My desk lamp had no bulb. Their written response? “Lightbulb replacement is not categorized as an emergency maintenance request.” I had no desk light for 3 days. The shower handle fell off during my first use, hitting my toe. Their reply? “We cannot guarantee this issue can be resolved during your stay.” The Roku remote didn’t work, and instead of checking, I got emailed generic instructions. The remote was broken, but since no one came up to check, it remained ignored. Noise ignored: I requested a room change after being woken up daily at 6 a.m. by the guest upstairs stomping in heels. The hotel refused to move me, offering free earplugs instead. Data security concerns: I was forced to re-upload my ID just to extend my booking — even though they already had it on file from four days earlier. Very unsettling. Neighborhood safety: Walking my dog felt unsafe. The area has a heavy homeless presence, visible mental health crises, and I was told a stabbing had happened nearby a week earlier. The only positive? The cleaning staff. They were excellent — far better than management. Bottom line: Clean rooms, but no real service, unsafe surroundings, dismissive management, and a system that treats guests like data points instead of people. I strongly recommend choosing another hotel in Portland.
