Ponta Poranga Jungle Lodge

Our guide Gabriel was amazing! He gave us a private tour of the jungle/waterfall ! We met the local tribe and caught the sunset. We loved the safari and pink dolphins. We always missed the crowds! Stunning location about an hour on a boat from Manaus. Cabins very nice but don’t leave any food out otherwise you will have ants and tarantulas in your room! Check your shoes too one birdfeeder tarantula was in my daughter shoe! All part of the fab nature in the Amazon! The food was excellent just a little the same as each meal (lunch or dinner) you could choose between fish, chicken or steak and it came with salad and rice or potatoes. So a choice of other food would be good too. I recommend taking a lot of water too as it’s so humid. Overall a fantastic nature experience with great staff!!

We were not told of the cost of a juice jug and compared to everything else it was very expensive. So a jug of fresh juice was 15 euros which is 90 Real which is a lot out there. When a meal cost 20 euros in comparison this is not good value. So good to show people the menu costs up front. Also the toilets do not always flush properly so don’t put any paper down. There are no signs up either so you forget. I had to deblock it myself with a plunger so not for the faint hearted ! It was only in one of the cabins by the lake (left side) so worth looking into the sewage pipes 😂! Overall fantastic experience !

This neat and very well looked after jungle lodge is not only beautiful and authentic but also safe in the sense of bad surprises by snakes or spiders due to intelligent planting. Everything is done for the comfort and authentic jungle experience of the guests - only 5 chalets although they have space for very much more. I will never forget bathing in the beautiful stream which becomes a river in winter. The food was amazing and the tours very personal and intimate. However the best thing about this lodge is the owner, Alexandre, whose has a big heart for the animals and nature surrounding him. He agreed not only to feed the starving neighbors dog, but came up with the idea of taking that poor dying animal to his beautiful lodge, to feed it and even provide medical care. This is what we did on my last day - we went to the neighbor and brought the thinnest dog which wouldn't even move to his lodge, we washed it, fed it and provided first help for its damaged skin and open wounds. Alexandre is a very special person with a big big heart - God bless him and give him strength and power to help and care for those who so badly need it. My stay was an unforgettable, unique and beautiful experience - I will definitely be back to check on the rescued dog, who we renamed Mariposa, meaning a big brown butterfly in indigenous language and spend more time in this beautiful place.

The neighborhood outside the lodge is unfortunately littered by plastic and garbage as everywhere else in the Amazon or elsewhere where there are people. It was a shock to see this misery just outside the lodge area during tours, because I didn’t expect it after my stay at this extremely clean lodge. I wish we could take care of this beautiful nature more especially because we visit these places to experience nature - our responsibility to preserve it as visitors is not less than of those who live there.

Nothing.

Not Recommended at all. It was INACCEPTABLE and the most horrible holiday that we ever experienced! We had NO ELECTRICITY at all from 4 in the afternoon until the next day at 11.. NO AC and NO INTERNET like they promised in a 42 Degrees weather. Service was very unprofessional, even though we complained about it, the manager couldn’t even give us any compensation (except a water and a beer). The guide (Gabriel) the only person who speaks English in the lodge and not always “available” picked us up from the Airport and didn’t even know the way to the lodge. We had to drive more than 1 HOUR IN A BROKEN CAR in a hot scorching day. Again with NO AC IN THE CAR. Due to all of these bad experience we couldn’t stay any night longer, and even at this point they asked us to pay a totally overprice bill without any reduction.

The staff was super friendly. The food was amazing and delicious. The food was self-made and the pineapple juice was too. We were alone there and the tour guide took good care of us. Everything was clean. The climate control was working well. It was amazing to sleep in the jungle. Everyone should do this once in his life. Don't expect your cellular network to work here. We went on some tours and the tour guides were super friendly and nice. Don't miss the chance to visit this place.

I absolutely loved this place. The staff was awesome especially Gabriel, Anderson and everyone else. They went the extra mile to accommodate an emergency call we had to make. The food was some of the best I have ever had. Fresh homade with a lot of love! I will be returning in the future!

I had to leave!

I loved everything, truly!! From the pick up we were pleased to have our own tour guide. He really made an effort to make sure everything was just great. The property is perfect and so beautiful. I loved our cabin and I loved every detail of how the property balanced authenticity and comfort.

I didn’t like leaving!

The accommodation is really in the middle of nature, it can only be reached by boat. However, the owner will arrange a pick-up directly from the airport. An amazing breakfast is included in the price, and it is possible to order lunch and dinner, which always include local specialties, natural juices and various fruits. Accommodation also ensures tailor-made trips.

The bed was a bit small for two people.

We chose Ponta Poranga because we liked their presentation on booking.com and we were not wrong. At first, communication took place via booking.com, later we chatted via whatapps. Gabriel, who took care of us the entire stay, picked us up with a driver in our hotel in Manaus. The journey by car to the wharf took about 30 minutes. We transferred to the boat, the cruise to Ponta Poranga was about 35 minutes. The Lodge was ready for our stay already in the morning and they immediately invited us to a small snack. The co-owner of the hotel took care of the food throughout the stay and everything was absolutely great. Gabriel then put together our program with us. During our 3 day stay, we visited a waterfall, took several river cruises, visited the local natives, bird-watched and much more. Giovani, our young forest guide explained a lot of things about the plants and trees. Our Lodge was comfortable, the AC worked great, the bed was comfortable and everything was functional. The lodge has a terrace where you can hang a hammock on request and relax. The entire resort is beautifully decorated. It is the work of Giovani, from whom you can also buy the wonderful bracelets he makes. At the end of our stay, they prepared a campfire as a surprise for us and we could listen to the sounds of the forest and observe the constellations of the southern hemisphere. It's all about the people - Gabriel and Giovani were absolutely brilliant during our stay and thanks to them we were able to enjoy our visit to the rainforest

A jungle hotel with the civilized world comfort. A boat trip was a great way to get to the hotel. The staff were very helpfull and friendly. Excellent breakfast and dinner (grilled fish in banana leaves). I had 2 great tours in the jungle and learned about fruits and indigenous traditions. Highly recommend!

It was all great! Of couse one should not expected the comfort of a hotel in Dubai. It is a jungle hotel :)
