Hotel Beach Don Gonzalo

We enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had left a nightlight/charger in the bathroom and 2 days later after I realized we had left it, I was able to recover it. We decided to stay longer in Celestún than originally planned. We needed to change to a different hotel because Don Gonzalo’s does not take credit cards. Cash only. It does say this on hotels.com, but only if you click on more property information or read it in a review. Breakfast was good, but again be prepared to pay cash each day. There is only one ATM (@Willy’s on the square)that works for foreigners. The hotel is a short walk to the beach, not on the beach. The beds are a bit hard. Most restaurants are on the beach and only a few stay open past 6pm. Otherwise there were 2 restaurants we found on the square that were open past 6pm.

Friendly personnel, clean and comfy room. Close to the beach and city centre.

Beautiful little hotel. Very helpful & friendly staff. However, the road noise & roosters were loud. Not the hotels fault, just part of the experience. Very close to everything in the small village.

The staff were very nice and the room was clean. Just outside our hotel a family kept chickens. Sadly the rooster crowed most of the night. It was very difficult to sleep.

The Staff was pleasant. The room was a decent size and clean.

No extra roll of toilet paper. No cups/ glasses at all. Towels were clean but rather ratty looking. One chair for a room with two double beds. Also, we would have preferred one queen bed but that wasn't a big deal No monitoring at desk. Fellow we had booked boat trip with came upstairs, unannounced, to my daughter and son-in-law's room. He wound up fleecing them....which was their issue, not the hotel's, but I was surprised by the easy access.

Booked this place because they said they served breakfast. They don't! No breakfast the 2 days we stayed!

I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel in Celestún. Upon arrival, we were given a room directly next to a chicken coop, despite other rooms being available. Starting at 3:30 AM, the noise from the chickens was relentless and incredibly disruptive—it felt like they were right in the room with us. It is unacceptable for a hotel to have rooms so close to such a setup, and even more so to assign guests to those rooms when better options are available. Additionally, there was no hot water in our room, and the staff was unable to resolve the issue. This only added to an already uncomfortable experience. I had expected a relaxing stay but was left frustrated and exhausted instead. I cannot recommend this hotel and hope they make significant improvements to their management and guest experience.
