"Damp and Poor Cleanliness"

6.0

Unfortunately despite being in an idyllic location, the Garden Room was very disappointing in terms of condition and cleanliness. Water / damp was seeping up through in many areas through the laminate flooring which meat feet were always wet. Damp and mould was creeping up the walls, and the bathroom door would not close at all due to warping from the damp. Wooden panels were coming away from the walls, the sliding door had broken seals and was so hard to open and the curtains and doors were filthy, also through damp and poor cleanliness. Unfortunately there was nobody available on departure to discuss things with or to request a refund. My partner was struggling to breath in the room due to the strong smell of damp and due to the mouldy areas on the walls. Such a shame as the grounds and location are very good indeed. Check in reception area difficult to find. Parking area difficult to find. No available seating for breakfast so had to have a bag of food delivered to your door at their appointed time (8-845). Walkways to your room were made with very loose stones so almost impossible to manoeuvre your luggage-not senior friendly. Only 1 restaurant available to eat at and when the 4 of us went for supper we could not eat inside! Had to eat out on picnic tables and it was cold out! The multiple empty tables inside were being held for reservations! Having fire pits at each unit is a great idea until it is hot in your room and you can’t open your door as the smell of smoke from the neighbours fire pit comes right in

"Wasn't for me"

4.0

On first glance the cozy room was cute. But the longer I stayed the more flaws appeared. Mould in bathroom, bathrobes were grubby and well worn albeit clean. Towels also felt well worn. Bathroom door didn't shut. Light in the cupboard with tea / coffee maker was in a sensor that went off every few seconds. When the persons in the neighbouring room came back a light shone through to our room. Hit my head on the tv. Not allowed in newton hall for food or drinks tho the food / breakfast offered at the local pub was very nice and probably the best bit.

"Amazing place but didnt live up to its expectation"

8.0

Our overall stay was wonderful. Upon check in a holding fee was taken except this was actually taken from my account immediately. We were not given a key to our lodge and had to ask for one. No directions were given and it took us ages to find our lodge, so long we nearly missed our reservation in the joiners arms. The joiners arms is advertised as been at the bottom of the garden. Again no directions so we had to find it by sat nav which took us via the main road. This isnt ideal if you are staying in the caravans with children. There may be an alternative route but the place is badly sign posted. When we arrived we couldn't find our way into the main hall to check in and again had to go via the main road, we did find the side entrance back after we checked in. Upon check in we were asked if we wanted to book for breakfast. I explained we already had a table in the joiners arms. I asked if there were other options and was told no. When we eventually got to our lodge the information booklet did say we had the option of having breakfast delivered to our room. We decided to change and it was lovely to eat our breakfast outside the lodge. I booked the turn down service for our return from the joiners arms and this was amazing. The chocolate dipped Strawberries were beautiful. We also struggled to find the beach which this venue advertises beach wedding, again using good old google maps we found our way to the beach at the ship inn.

"Really disappointing "

2.0

Really disappointing stay. Lovely spot but clearly just set up for wedding guests despite being offered more generally. Looks lovely but just didn’t work well for a family - three night stay and hot water failed on 2 days. Kitchen but no tea towel. Leaking radiator and permanently wet floor. Kept being promised a call back from the manager but never received this.
