Cooktown Motel

Cooktown Motel was a lovely little place to stay.A compact Villa with a good sized kitchenette ,large fridge Ensuite bathroom was clean , shower was hot .Close to town .Would definitely stay again

Was not an adequate description of the accomodation on Booking.com Was essentially backpackers accomodation and not upgraded For the $$ paid .. camping would have been better value In this accomodation .. The shared kitchen facilities were not clean People were smoking in the courtyard outside rooms The locked courtyard made me feel uncomfortable The trek from where my car was parked to the room and then upstairs to the bathroom was not good .. quite an effort at the end of a long day driving to Cooktown If a better description was given I would have opted for a powered camp site at half the price and all camp grounds I have been in on this 5 week trip have better bathrooms and cleaner camp kitchens .. Would not stay again and would not recommend this style of accomodation in this motel

Bathrooms very old and cramped .. Had to straddle the toilet to shut the door .. In shower there was nowhere to put your toiletries, no shelf .. just a hook .. Had to walk up steep steps from the room to the bathroom .. Amenities need a complete refurbishment .. Would expect to be paying only $80 a night for this not $110 .. Never again .. Prefer to be a stretcher camper than bunk down in this place

Room was dirty Bedsheets not clean Floor was filthy I handed the key back and walked out. Didn’t even bother asking for a refund as the staff were not around.

Close to Main Street

Very unclean and smelt horrendous

The manager was very helpful and friendly and as awful as our room was it was clean and smelled fresh.

There were no chairs or a table in our room. We had no wardrobe and no space anywhere to put our suitcases. Bathroom and shower taps were in poor condition and were in urgent need of repair. Plunger on toilet was almost impossible to push down. Curtains in the room could not be drawn as the bed was pushed against the window wall. The gardens looked totally neglected and adjoining buildings were in very poor condition. After returning home I made enquiries about the owners. I found out that the motel was a former backpackers' establishment and I will attempt to get in touch with the new owner(s).

Perfect location to explore Cooktown from at your own pace. Walk to everywhere on a cool day. Short drive when it's hot. The room was a good size and all facilities worked well. The manager was exceptionally friendly and provided heaps of useful information about exploring the town.

The crockery and cutlery etc could have been a bit more plentiful but apart from that everything was great. We'd definitely stay there again.
