The Lavender House by Reveal

Lavender House is a charming retreat overlooking lush tea plantations, offering an experience that feels more like staying in a beautifully maintained private home than a hotel. The rooms in the main house are elegantly appointed with original furnishings, and the garden is impeccably tended, adding to the sense of serenity and refinement. We traveled as a family and initially stayed in two rooms in the main building. Midway through our stay, we were generously upgraded to their expansive three-bedroom villa, which features a private terrace, hot tub, and dining area. Though more contemporary in style, the villa offered an equally special and memorable experience. What truly sets Lavender House apart, however, is the outstanding hospitality. Under the expert leadership of Saman, the manager, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Their attention to detail was remarkable—they anticipated our needs, checked in on us regularly, and even accompanied us on excursions. A special mention goes to Viduna, who took exceptional care of us throughout our stay. Dining at Lavender House was another highlight. Each day, Chef Shantha and his talented kitchen team consulted with us about our preferences for breakfast and dinner, crafting exquisite Sri Lankan and Western dishes as well as high teas. The level of personalized service was extraordinary, making every meal a delight. For relaxation, the hotel offers spa treatments that can be enjoyed either outdoors or in the privacy of your room. The masseur, Supun, is truly gifted—his massages were so exceptional that we booked four treatments during our stay. Highly recommended! The team also curated engaging activities that made our visit even more special. We embarked on two scenic hikes—one to a local waterfall and another to the breathtaking vantage point of Peacock Hill.

Everything - so peaceful, the scenery is breathtaking, food is amazing and everything is very comfortable. The staff were exceptional, we weren’t left wanting for anything, and when I accidentally left my phone charger at the property, they dropped it to my next hotel! Really wonderful service.

The location, the cleanliness and the food. Also, the young staff member was simply outstanding. The view from the pool was out of this world.

1) Shower was simply impossible (too hot or too cold ... couldn't get it right and lack of water pressure). 2) Pool was not heated. 3) Unfortunately oftentimes there was confusion when we ordered something. 4) Menu should play more on the tea theme as the house is in the middle of the plantations.

Exceptional Hospitality and a Beautiful Stay We had an unforgettable experience at Lavender house. Even though we arrived late at 11:00 PM, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome by providing a fantastic dinner. Their kindness and attention to detail truly stood out. It’s hard to put into words just how beautiful this place is—it’s something you need to see to believe! Every moment spent here was worth every penny, and the ambiance was absolutely perfect. A special thanks to Saman, whose exceptional service made our stay even more memorable. If you’re considering a visit to Sri Lanka, I wholeheartedly recommend Lavender house. You won’t regret it!

Wow - we have stayed in hotels all over the world but this property was one of the best. The location perfect amongst the tea fields. The views are stunning. The property itself is a beautiful building - such a warm, cosy and comfortable vibe - the room was so big and the decor was beautiful. The grounds and the pool were great and we loved the food! Especially the breakfast!!

Not very much - it was really lovely. Perhaps the high tea could have been slightly better food but the view was so amazing that we didn’t mind!

The driveway is 3km and is super rocky/bumpy and it takes a long time to enter/exit the hotel. Very slow service. We were the only guests and waited ages for anything. Just to get a drink can take half hour. :(. Very frustrating. The problem is that the kitchen is very far from dining area so the staff were unable to manage.

Right on top of the mountain is this beautiful scenic bungalow. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, the living room has a huge television with all channels and Netflix. There are two wonderful dining areas indoors and huge dining area outdoors too. We were made to experience HOT LAVA STONE Barbecue that was imported from Germany. The staff (specially the manager Mr.Nayanajith) went out of the way to fulfill everything we desired. A never say no attitude.

The location is absolutely amazing, set right in and amongst the tea fields. The view is spectacular and it is very peaceful. The property is very unique and the furnishings are very nice, with lots of space and comfort. Saman and his team are very attentive, providing excellent personalized service and cater to any needs.. The food was very very good, with a great variety and the hot rock meal was great fun!

Not a complaint, but there is no stand-up shower in some rooms, only very nice deep tubs with shower handwands. We didn't mind as it was in keeping with the style of the period property, but it might be an issue for some guests. There was a separate shower room you can use.
