It was centrally located and I liked the included breakfast

There were several issues with our experience at the AC. We were told checkin starts at 3pm, when we arrived they did not have any rooms available (even though we pre-paid for the room) and we were told to wait for an hour so the room could be cleaned and inspected. We were then late to our event because of this. When I went to take a shower that evening, the towel I placed on the bathroom floor began turning brown. There was dried brown liquid on the bathroom floor that started seeping into the towels when they got wet. The shower faucet was coming off the wall due to seemingly shoddy craftsmanship. I also found a used strip of false lashes stuck on the floor as well. When I tried to call down to the front desk, the room phone wasn’t working. So I went downstairs. Then, when we requested to be moved we were told there were no other rooms available again and they would send maintenance up instead. Someone came up an hour and a half later with 1 microfiber towel in their hand (no other tools or anything), didn’t understand the issues with the room, took the brown towels and left. No one returned nor did they bring additional towels. Very disappointed with my stay and the lack of empathy, understanding and professionalism I received from the front desk staff, including the supervisor.

The AC hotel is very good value for money. The hotel is clean and the room are spacious. The breakfast is adequate. The 12th Street Downtown Oakland BART is very close; there is an entry from Clay street. There is a Subway and Popeyers on Clay very close and a nice cafe and Burger place right down the street on Jefferson, just past 14th. The proximity of the BART makes getting around easy. All in all a very good stay.

This has nothing to do with the hotel but the city of Oakland is clearly in trouble. Most of the storefronts around the hotel are boarded up. This gives the neighbourhood a deserted feel to it. However, my daughter and I walked and forth from and to the BART station without any concern. The place just feels deserted which was strange since I expected downtown Oakland to be buzzy. Nevertheless the hotel itself is great and the immediate area is fine. No complaints about the hotel.
