ARTOTEL Batam

I was completely satisfied with my stay at Artotel. From check-in to check-out, the staff were very helpful and attentive. The lobby is spacious and decorated with art. The rooms are spacious, clean, and fragrant.

This is a solid stay. Close to ATM and shops if needed. Air conditioning wasn’t strong if working and there was a little mold on the sink that I think was messing with my allergies. Also it is not sound proof lol. But the staff were nice, the room design was cool, and I felt generally safe.

Artotel Batam is a rather new property, which opened in 2022. It is operated by an Indonesian hospitality group which manages various hotels and food and beverage establishments in Indonesia. The main reason I had picked this hotel is its prime location which is within walking distance to the following places: 1. Pasar Penuin (Wet Market) - 160m (2mins walk) 2. A2 Food Court - 400m (5mins walk) 3. Grand Batam Mall - 650m (9mins walk) 4. Batam City Square Mall - 750m (11mins walk) There are many amenities such as dining outlets, massage centres, shops and convenience stores in the hotel vicinity. The nearest ferry terminal to the hotel is Harbour Bay, which is 4.3km away. I took a ride-haling service from the ferry terminal to the hotel in the morning which costs IDR35K. Tip: When boarding a ride-hailing service from Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal to the hotel, remember to head to the pickup point behind the Bayfront Mall carpark and not at the mall entrance beside KFC. I was told by a taxi driver it is not a ride-haling service point. Alternatively, head to Batam Marriott Hotel Harbour Bay to board your ride. The hotel had collaborated with four Indonesian artists to design its rooms which features a blend of Indonesian art and a modern minimalist design. There are 138 artsy guest rooms in two different types: Studio 30 (30 square metres) and Studio 45 (45 square metres). I had booked the Studio 30 King for my one night stay here. The rooms are from level 1 to 7, which I was accommodated in Room No. 208 on level 2. The room is non-carpeted. I like that it is spacious and offers a huge full length window. During the day, I could hear some traffic noises. Thankfully, all is quiet during the night, which I had a restful sleep. As mentioned by other reviewers, there is no electric kettle in the room. I had to prepare hot water using the coffee machine. Although there is no SMART TV, there are cable TV channels for my enjoyment in the comfort of my room. There is no USB charging port here. However, a universal socket is provided on the left side of the bed and work desk. The bathroom is spacious. The shower pressure and temperature worked fine during my stay. There are two food and beverage outlets, Eatspace and Barspace at the hotel. Room service is offered here. Additionally, there is an art gallery in the hotel lobby called Artspace. Over here, guests and the local community can admire the artworks created by Indonesian artists. The hotel partners with Abita Spa to offer in-room massages for guests staying here. The price starts from IDR300K for a 60mins massage. Do note that there is no gymnasium and pool here. But who needs these amenities when you can enjoy many fun activities in Batam. I like Artotel Batam for its spacious, modern and clean room. Considering its prime location, this hotel is great value for money. I would love to return here again on my next visit to Batam.
