Ah Xok suites 5a Avenida

I stayed at Ah Xok Suites in Playa del Carmen for just one night, and while the room was nice and quiet on the top floor, my overall experience was completely ruined by the service. The receptionist, Erika, was extremely disappointing to deal with. Upon check-out, my ID was not returned, which was a clear oversight on their part. Since then, I have been trying to resolve this issue with Erika, but her communication has been unprofessional, inconsistent, and frustrating. Despite repeatedly stating the importance of retrieving my ID and providing all necessary details, she has ghosted me and failed to take timely action to resolve the problem. You can find the attached screenshots of our WhatsApp conversation, which clearly shows how poorly this was handled. Instead of prioritizing fixing their mistake, she made no effort to follow up promptly and provided excuses for days. This incompetence and lack of trustworthiness has caused me significant inconvenience, including being unable to drive back in my home country due to the missing ID. A simple issue that could have been easily resolved has turned into a major hassle and cost due to their unprofessionalism. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone due to the terrible customer service. If you’re considering staying here, beware - your belongings might be mishandled and you’ll be left on your own to deal with the consequences. By the time I am writing this review, it is Monday the 20th January and I am already back home without any answer or action from them. Would strongly recommend to avoid.

the location, it’s in town but not to close to town. bed is comfortable and the receptions are friendly and helpful. our apartment is clean and has most of the things we need. walking distance to beach. playa 72 is amazing.

It wasn't what I expected

The standout feature of this property is its wonderful staff. Fernanda and Erika at the front desk speak fluent English and are always ready to assist, also supporting the housekeepers who may not speak the language. The Wi-Fi is excellent—fast and reliable, perfect for both work and leisure. The rooms and suites are thoughtfully designed for solo travelers or couples, and the location is ideal: just a short walk to Coco Beach and situated on the quieter side of 5th Avenue, away from the crowds. Daily housekeeping is provided, with attention to detail, despite any language barriers. The staff truly works hard to create a comfortable, welcoming environment, so it's worth considering leaving a tip for both reception and housekeeping as a gesture of appreciation for their great service. The property also offers added peace of mind with a secure reception lock. For those who prefer healthy dining options, there are two vegan restaurants nearby on 5th and 44th, and for late-night needs, a pharmacy and 24-hour 7-11 are conveniently next door.

While there are many positives, there were a few aspects of the property that I didn’t particularly enjoy. If you’re a light sleeper, it can be quite noisy, as the nearby restaurant bars blast live music until well past midnight. The facilities are also limited, with no gym or on-site restaurant, though breakfast is available for an additional cost, which I didn't have the chance to try. The pool area feels outdated and poorly maintained, and there are only a few sunbeds, making it less inviting for relaxation. Fortunately, the beach is just a short walk away. The safe in the room was a basic model with a tricky knob, which made it difficult to operate. In the basic rooms, the twin beds are pushed together, and the blankets in both the rooms and suites are thin with a limited number of pillows. If you need extra pillows or blankets, you'll need to request them through reception. Additionally, beach towels require a deposit of 500 Mexican pesos, and note that there are additional charges for early check-ins and check-outs. Everything has to be handled through reception, as there are no phones in the rooms. One thing I found surprising was that there’s an extra charge for leaving dishes for the housekeepers to wash, though if you show your appreciation, they will waive this fee. The property feels more like an apartment than a hotel, making it better suited for longer stays. It’s helpful to be mindful of keeping the space tidy during your stay. Thankfully, the staff are friendly and do their best to make up for these areas in need of improvement.

Las instalaciones muy bonitas, lo unico el control de la tele no servia, lo entregamos a recepción para su arreglo y no solucionaron, hay estacionamiento pero hay que pagar parquimetro el cual cuesta 10 pesos la hora, pero todo lo demas super bien!

If you are looking for a hotel suite that places you in a perfect walking distance to all of 5th ave and a short walk to the beach, this is it. Roof top pool wasnt as big as I expected but the whole rooftop area is still a really nice spot to go soak up the sun and have a couple drinks with your spouse or friends. Location can be a little loud on the streets at times but thats to be expected for being so close to 5th ave. The staff are very friendly and helpful which goes a long way for someone that maybe vacationing there for their first time. The only thing I can say that I didnt like was I didn't stay long enough. Will definitely be coming back.
