Ah Xok suites 5a Avenida

The location was great, rather at the end of the Quinta Avenida, so it was a bit less busy and more relaxed then the rest of the street. The hotel was just a short walk from a very nice beach with many nice cafes and restaurants around. Staff was overall friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately we did not get the room with kingsize bed and living room that we had booked, but a different one with two separate beds and no extra couch which was less suitable for a couple. It was not a dealbreaker, but we were at the end of our trip and had specifically chosen that hotel and room to relax, so we were a bit disappointed when we did not get it, especially since the explanation for it was only that "there was a problem with the room". We were offered free breakfast as compensation, but did not take it as we had planned to eat outside, so no real compensation. The toilet flush did not work properly, and when we mentioned it to the staff at checkout there was no apology, but just an explanation on how to fix it. The balcony was not really usable because it was very small and dirty. The hangers on the balcony were broken and super rusty, so that some laundry we had hung there got stains. A few extra hooks to hang towels in the bathroom would have been nice. The walls are VERY thin and unfortunatley we had noisy neighbours, so earplugs are recommended.

The rooftop breakfast option was excellent and very reasonably priced. A friendly breakfast server prepared wonderful omelets for us each day The setup of the suite was also great for us in general-space to work and space to relax. Also, the daytime front desk staff were especially helpful.

Clear glass shower door open to the suite meant there was no possibility for privacy when taking a shower.

Rooms are basic, a bit rundown, no elevators and very rusty stairs

Geweldig verblijf gehad!

A smaller apartment type hotel. A very nice option near 5th Ave and walkable to shops, dining and the beach. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a couple hiccups and the staff was efficient about resolving the issue. Depending on the room, you may hear street notice of barking dog but it’s wasn’t a major concern. All in all - enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

A great hotel in a nice location just off of 5th ave where all the restaurants and shopping is. A nice rooftop area with a pool. The staff was always friendly and available. They do have a secure front door. The room was spacious and had a balcony. There was some noise from the street.
