City Lights Apartments

we had a very upset experience in this apartment. The boiler was out of order the day we arrived.They sent plumber at 10pm to fix but eventually at 11:00pm he cannot which was already annoying. But it’s too late to leave , so we stay there without hot water and heater for the whole freezing night. The manager of the apartment apologised and promised to refund if we find another room the other day . we booked another hotel in Edinburgh of course in a higher price thro booking.com next morning. We moved out earlier in the morning the next day and I emailed to both booking.com and the manager of the apartment about the incidence and what time we had left. For ages, the Booking .com as well as the apartment didn’t reply , after so many times email, the manager of the apartment told me to contact booking.com not their apartment for refund. But later booking.com contact me that they refuse to refund because of the policy ! Oh what kind of policy it was ! Failing to provide basic facilities for guest won’t be the strongest reason to refund?! ! I also whatsapp the manager of the city light apartment, yet they show no concern to me. I have evidence of all our conversation and the manager’s promise to refund. This is the first time I came to Edinburgh. I have been using booking.com for more than ten years. This gave me a very poor experience for booking hotel . I just asked for reasonable compensation for my extra payment. This was all done in booking.com where they can check it clearly

beautiful apartment and only a 25 min walk into Edinburgh

property is in the ground floor and is near the bus stop- easy access to city centre. walkable by 15-20mins to princes street. near shops and cafes as well. comfortable stay as everything you need is available. everything is organised making things easy to find and use.

we had to send a message for some towels as there was only 2 provided when there were 4 of us booked for the stay—promptly addressed by host. the bath was a bit slippery even with non-slip bath mat that didn’t work. maybe next time install grips/handles in the bath for safety purposes. there were roadworks being done along leith walk and can be noisy at times especially in the morning-not the host’s fault anyway but something to be considered if one is very sensitive to noise.

Great location within walking distance (approx 25-30 min) of centre of Edinburgh. Good variety of restaurants and cafes within the area. Easy and simple check-in process. Clean and nicely kept space, good size rooms, comfortable bed and excellent bad/shower.

No duvet cover available for guest using sofa bed. Sofa bed in living room is at the front of the house meaning very close to main street which was busy and therefore noisy at times.
