Mackinac Lodge

Definitely needs updating in the back lodge where we stayed. Stairwell going up to the second level is solid until you get up there. The railing isn’t safe.

Good location, comfortable bed. No breakfast, dirty room.

We arrived close to midnight and quickly tucked in for the night. It was only when we were leaving the following morning that we noticed a few things in the room. There was an empty pizza box beneath one of the beds and a cereal box tucked between a bench and the wall; both of which were not ours, but there’s no telling how long they’d been there. The linens were clean, the bathroom was in need of some cosmetic fixes, but for under $100 at a pass thru to the U.P., the place is crawling with tourists and some things are destined to go overlooked for the sake of quickly preparing rooms for the next rush. I wouldnt mind staying here again, but I would be sure to look for little left-behinds and toss them before hitting the hay. Very cute place with warm and welcoming northern cottage decor, and the check in process was simple and quick.

The check in staff was very nice, however the name of the hotel is not displayed, and it was difficult to find. I feel like the hotel could have been a bit cleaner. The carpet felt dirty and sticky. The shower head is at chest level and it made it tricky to shower. The coffee maker was missing a piece so we couldn’t use it. Needless to say, I definitely won’t be staying again.

It was good for the price. Could have been a little cleaner and had actual bath towels in the room, but overall not bad.

Last updated in the 70’s. Completely run down. For the price I was charged they can afford to update linens, mattresses, bathroom. Doors didn’t close properly so everyone was slamming them to get them closed. Had to dry off with hand towel after shower due to no towels. Staff was good. Location good. Shame on the owners for taking all the money out of the business for decades.

Decent place for the money for a one night stay. No wifi available and when I called the front desk about it (twice) they could not help with figuring out the wifi. I have the latest iPhone, open wifi was not popping up. Only password protected was popping up and there’s no password available at this motel. Also no elevators so choose first floor if you don’t want to lug your suitcase up a flight of stairs.

So ran down and dirty that we would not wish this hotel onto our worse enemy!

The name of the hotel on Expedia vs what is on their sign are two different names. The placement of this whole hotel is an absolute joke. I circled the building a few times as it was very confusing at first to even find where the front entrance was. Upon entering, the front lobby had dead bugs all in the windows and floor corners. Doesn’t look like anyone cleans. The property had trash all over, and the mini fridge to our room was warm as it was not plugged in. It’s very annoying to not have something cool to put food and drinks in upon arriving. Very disappointed with this stay.
