Our bathroom door was broken, hinge was broken, unable to plug in chargers in outlets, just kept falling out. Shower head needed a good cleaning or replaced.

Very nice hotel with free admission to the water park next-door walking distance from everything it’s just really great weekend

This property is a SCAM! Do NOT book here. I booked here 8 months in advanced, paid in full, and then was called 1.5 hours before checking in that they did not have a room for my family over Labor Day weekend (we had already traveled 4.5 hours to this hotel). They said one of their other properties (Thunderbird Inn) had room but only 1 king bed (for 3 people). When we went to check in, they switched us again to another hotel (at least with 2 beds) but definitely a huge downgrade - Starlite Budget Inn. Not the same quality or even a discount but it was either this or cancel and try to find a reasonably price room over Labor Day weekend! Then at 10 pm that night (we were staying two nights), the hotel manager/staff came to our room and told us we had to sign a form saying “we acknowledge that the hotel we originally booked was open for business but we choose to stay at the Starlite.” Heck no we did not “choose”! When we said the form was incorrect the staff said either sign the form or leave immediately! Again it was 10 pm at night, our child was already in bed! We ended up amending the form to tell the reality of the situation, initialed it, and signed the modified form. Be aware this hotel is part of 20ish hotels in the Mackinaw area that has done this many times before. They were even fined in the past by the Michigan attorney general. We also wrote up a complaint to the attorney general. Expedia should not be working with this property. I would NEVER stay here again.

Location location location

Arrived for check in only to be told that my reservation wasn't available. I was escorted to a MOTEL that was far less than acceptable as compared to the rooms I had originally reserved. Filthy, loud, no amenities, not even a tv remote, mold on the wall, shower tiles falling out during use, etc. Absolutely unacceptable. Manager from my original hotel that I expected to stay with arrived late at night and demanded that I sign a contract agreeing to the change in facilities. Under duress I had to sign lest my entire family be kicked out and nowhere to go. BBB complaint to come...

I didn't stay at the Mackinac Lodge! They over booked and bumped me to another location (the rundown Starlite Budget Inn). This location was a step above a cardboard box: dated, smelly, dirty. I reserved this room in January. No reason, no excuse, no care from the staff. I booked a room with TWO BEDS, AND GOT A ROOM WITH ONE BED. It was farther away to downtown, restaurants, etc. I was given coupons to restaurants, but the first two restaurants we went to were closed. Even the coupons are outdated! I had to drive to where the maid was to get the key to our room! This place was so outdated it had an actual key, not a card to enter the room. I had to go to the store to get cleaning supplies because this place stunk to badly, sleeping there was going to be a challenge. The air conditioner was not working well since it was from the 1980s. All the writing had been worn off, so it took a bit of trial and error to get it blowing out cold air. It took a few hours to get the room cooled down comfortable enough to sleep. I don't understand why I was bumped to a different location and not the person who booked after me. This was a busy Holiday weekend in a tourist town. My options were very limited on staying anywhere else. So, I accepted the room offered at the budget motel. I am livid. This was a horrible experience. I planned several months in advance so as to not have this kind of problem. Is it the fault of the motel? Travelocity? So much more could be said. So, so disappointing.

Check in staff was awesome and helpful! Got a first floor room which we appreciated!

First night the room smelled like they spilled bleach, the second night was obvious why, they did it to cover a mold smell.

Mold bad in room other than that a great place

Great location, very nice room/cabin.

Staff was so-so on checking.
