The Westerner - Extended Stay

The price was great for what you got at the hotel: big room, continental breakfast, great restaurant and band, pool, and activities for families and adults.

Everything was fantastic. A great place with a fun vibe!

The pictures on here are deceiving. This place is run down, maybe they’re renovating it but people were smoking w**d right on the balcony, every time I walked my daughter outside there was drunk & high ppl. The shower had broken tiles and it was dirty, towels smelt bad. Walked into the hotel to an overwhelming chlorine odor from the pool. The carpet in the room smelt like urine…not being dramatic it was nasty. Some drunk person was able to open our door at 1am! My son was so scared he couldn’t go back to sleep until 7am. The staff was so nice but this hotel seemed like a quick stop for locals from the bar. I wish we hadn’t stayed here. I apologized to my kids for bringing them to what felt like a polished motel 6.

We stayed at the Westerner 7/25/25 for one night. The property is still under renovation. The internet/wi-fi in our room was very slow. We tried to stream a movie and it kept buffering so we gave up on watching TV. Our room needed still needed some repairs especially the bathroom door that dragged loudly each time we tried to close the door. The shower had good water pressure. The walls and ceiling were thin. You could hear voices from the room next door and the heavy footsteps above us. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was awesome! The pool was nice but full of kids so we did not take advantage of the pool. Access to the property from the highway was a little tricky. We had to circle around to enter the parking lot. There was ample parking for guest, however, when the hotel has an event, parking becomes limited. Access to shopping and other restaurants is very good. Our overall review on the hotel is fair. We will wait until all the renovations are completed before considering staying at the Westerner. They still have a long way to go and we would recommend staying on the top floor if you don't want to hear people walking around above you.

Room furniture was dated, not like in the pics. Bathroom door was coming off its hinge. I think there was a recent leak as I felt a damp carpet and the repair on the ceiling was obvious. Staff was not rude but not polite at front desk. Words were ok but tone was not welcoming. Pros are the lobby was very family friendly and our kids really loved all the fun things to do. The restaurant was excellent. Food was amazing Service was good but they charged us a plate fee for a shared plate which we weren’t aware of. Kinda felt that is unnecessary. In fact we ordered a salad and got talked into a side salad. That cost less and reduced the server’s tip. Anyway it was all worth the price but don’t be fooled but the professional pics.

I drove from Houston Texas to Amarillo Texas and needed a comfortable night stay in a relaxing hotel. This hotel met all of my qualifications and needs. About my biggest gripe with the place was that their ice machines were not working right. All things considered this place was wonderful. If you ever need a place to stay in Amarillo Texas the Westerner is the best place to go.

Passing through with grandchildren and this was the perfect stay.
