This is an interesting hotel. It’s a Dutch owned hotel so don’t expect amenities you would find at other hotels. The grounds, beach, restaurants, pools, room are all very nice. We had a villa—plenty of space but sparse by American standards. Like no bedside table, just a shelf. A weird floating cabinet, no dresser. No TV in the bedrooms. Only bath towels and wash cloths no hand towels. No things Ike Q tips, body lotion, shower cap, etc. bathroom had hand soap by the sink and shampoo and conditioner in the shower. No rugs or carpeting. Should have brought slippers bc there was always sand everywhere. Housekeeping comes every 3 days not daily. They give you beach towels in your room, no towels by the pool, you need to go to reception to change them. The kitchenette was nice. Small dishwasher but no pods given so either bring some or buy here. Full size fridge which was nice. 3 restaurants on site but no room service. Service for dinner was super slow. No gym facilities. Lots of mosquitos around and did not see any traps.

Staff very friendly. Facility was clean. Many kids so if screaming bothers you, this is not the place for you. The snorkeling at beach was amazing. Food was fantastic.

Perfect We had a wonderful stay at Chogogo. A wonderful location for dining and relaxing. Highly recommend coming to visit the island!!

Prima hotel, goede service bij de bar. Kleine probleempjes werden direct opgelost na melding. De vriendelijkheid van het personeel. Ruimte om te douchen bij een laat vertrek was ook geen probleem.

De lengte van de vakantie. :) Die had langer gemogen.

The staff was very friendly, the rooms was clean and you right on the beach.

I’m not a big eater and I wasted lots of food during breakfast. I smaller option would be appreciated. I wish I could order better coffee like we had at the Bina restaurant.

Chogogo is a clean, well-maintained resort in a beautiful, quieter location on the island. The grounds were consistently tidy, and the beach guards did a great job clearing sand from the boardwalk and ensuring chairs were properly set up each day. The overall atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful. We stayed in a standard studio, which was a bit smaller than expected, but it served its purpose as a comfortable place to sleep at night. That said, the beds were disappointing—essentially mattress toppers over very firm pads that shifted every night, leading to restless sleep. Water pressure in the room was also quite weak. Service was mixed throughout our stay. Breakfast stood out as the best experience, with timely service and friendly, smiling staff. Unfortunately, the beach bar was the opposite—service was very slow, and there were noticeable communication issues among staff. One of the biggest downsides of our stay was the on-site dive shop. We attempted to book a discovery dive with them, but they were not accommodating. We ultimately went with Wanna Dive, located just next door, and had a fantastic experience. They were extremely welcoming, and Nico was an excellent dive master who made us feel comfortable and supported. Afterward, the manager of the dive shop at Chogogo repeatedly questioned us about why we did not dive with them, often with a very disrespectful and confrontational attitude. I had never confirmed a discovery dive with them and clearly stated I would let them know if I was interested. Despite this, both my boyfriend and I were approached multiple times and treated as though we had done something wrong, which was very uncomfortable and unnecessary. There appeared to be major internal communication issues, and unfortunately, we were pulled into that frustration. Another challenge was access to drinking water. While I understand and appreciate conservation efforts, the resort does not sell bottled water, and finding non-tap water on the property or nearby was difficult. The location itself is nice if you’re looking to be away from crowds, but convenience stores are not easily accessible. Additionally, all taxi rides—regardless of distance—were $15, which felt excessive. Overall, we still had a good time with what we were given, and I would consider staying at Chogogo again for the location and cleanliness. However, I would absolutely not recommend diving with their on-site center due to the lack of professionalism and respect. While it’s a pleasant resort, there were enough hiccups that I would also recommend looking into other resorts on the island before booking.
