Soldotna Lodge

The check-in staff was friendly and helpful enough. I let her know I wasn't happy about having to come back to Soldotna to check in, since I was in Soldotna when I made the booking. I felt that important information should be included in the booking confirmation. She handled it by ignoring the comment multiple times. She still has promise as a great employee. With a little more time on the job, she may gain better tools to deal with these kinds of issues.

When I booked online, I received a confirmation. I traveled to the location near Sterling and found I had to go all the way back to Soldotna to check in. You really should put that on the booking confirmation. I was pretty late by the time we finished the unnecessary back-and-forth travel to check in.

The staff during check-in was incredibly kind.

The inn had a really weird smell the min you walked into the facility. The toilet was dirty. The floor had dirt all over it and hadn't been swept. The blanket had burn marks all over it, and the bed was rock hard.. low priced for a very dirty, uncomfortable nights stay.

Dirty room No hot water. Deposit not refunded. Reception is not at the hotel, had to drive separately. Broken lock. Very loud music at night, couldn’t sleep.

Basic hunting lodge. Nothing fancy. Clean and beds good.

A quiet place.

This place was the worst I have experienced and I am far from picky. When you arrive, there is a note on the door that tells you to drive to another property. About ten minutes away in order to get the key. Once we had the key we went in the room and the smell was so bad it made me nauseous. Thry offered to move us but moved us into a room that was left open and lights on like someone else had been in there too. Once this happened I asked if we could cancel and the male owner got very angry and slammed a key down and stormed off. The female owner was kind and offered a refund.
